You'd be surprised. Money doesn't mean smarts. When I was at the Rolex24 back in January, there were guys who were loaded, bench racing their cars left and right. Lambo vs. Ferrari... BMW vs. Audi... Porsche vs. everyone else. The shit they said basically claimed all of them to be professionals, and can turn lap times faster than Andretti.
People read numbers and automatically think as soon as they jump behind the wheel, that is going to happen for them.

The other problem with the Viper is the daily livability. A ZR1 can be driven every day, and you can do anything with it. Hell it even holds a lot of cargo in the back if you want. I'd say it's a much easier car to live with driving it around than a viper is.
And this is just personal opinion, but they could have done more with the looks of the new viper. At first I thought it was cool, but now every time I see a picture of it, it's just meh.

Lets not sit around and jerk eachother off stating the corvette is a good hauler. Maybe it can be driven everyday if you live in San Diego but not where I am from nor can it do anything. I mean I did have two lawn chairs 3 cases of beer and a 23 year old female in the hatch once but it is not an everyday occurance. These are supercars, people buy them for to drive around and either look cool in or take to the track and have fun in. I have never been in a new viper but there is no reason to believe it isn't as livable as a vette. Sure the early vipers suck for livability, hot, small, sticky little interior but they have gotten better since then.

My base Corvette has the same amunt of room in it as a ZR1. You can live with the cargo space with ease.
I drive mine everywhere even on some dirt roads (pajeff02). Why cant it be a daily driver? I also go golfing with mine and take a friend and his clubs.

If you've been in one Viper, you've been in them all. It's a far less comfortable car than the vette. And it isn't an invalid argument either. I think you'd be surprised, but not a huge percentage of vipers or ZR1s spend time at the tracks. Most of them are just driven around on the street. If people can get equal performance from a far more comfortable car, they'll do it. The suspension on the ZR1 can provide a far better ride than a viper as well. Even for owners that do track these cars, most don't spend all of their time on the track, and some don't want to get beat up when just driving around.
I'm not exactly the only one with this opinion either. The two comparos I've read between the two both said the same thing with regards to which car was more livable on a daily basis. That said, some people love the style of the viper and that's cool
It is a good looking car, they just didn't do as much with it as they could have IMO

The suspension on the ZR1 is superior to the Vipers. I also dunno who the hell would buy either one of those cars if cargo room was a concern.

I'm a chevy guy so I would get a ZR1 over a Viper any day.

My c5 is probably pretty close to the cargo space as yours and the zr1 and it can be driven everyday in the spring or summer if I wanted but we get snow here. I also have children so that makes it pretty hard to DD it. The guys buying 100k+ vettes and vipers generally have a far more comfy DD. You think these 40-60 year old guys want to crawl out of a vette everyday? Probably not. I am 25 with a jacked up knee from sports and I do not always find getting out of the vette a joy.

I think that you are assuming that the 2013 viper has the same interior as a mid 90s? I hope that is not the case.
I would agree that most zr1s and vipers will probably be babied street cars. When it comes to 100k+ babied supercars cargo space is pretty far down on the list of wants. I bet that question is rarely asked at a exotic car dealer and the fact that it was even rought up in this discussion between the top chevy supercar and the top chrysler is laughable.

Arguing about the cargo room in a 100k sports car is like looking at Mila Kunis naked and bitching about her nail polish.
That being said, I think what 5.0 meant, was that the daily drivability of the ZedR1 is far superior to the Viper. This I'd have to agree with. GM has always been good about that, just look at the Cobra / ZL1 comparison. The Chevy's are just more refined and comfortable. Suspension, clutching, brakes... all excel at the track but can be tamed for the street.
Now, I haven't driven the new Viper, so I can't honestly tell you if that's true. But if you compare Vipers and Vettes through the years, it surely was the trend.

It's better aesthetically, but it's still about the same size, seating position, etc
You can laugh about it all you want. Cargo room in a car like that might be a laughable topic to a bunch of car enthusiasts, but not to a lot of the buyers of these cars. You have to remember that a lot of ZR1 owners just wanted the fastest vette they could get, or liked the way it looked compared to the base car. But it still has to fit their golf clubs for a trip to the country club.
