I'm not sure or I have a hard time believing that at least SOME of the players over the years didn't know what was going wrong. I think there were players who knew but in no way wanted to compromise the team, Paterno, school,their position within the student ranks and their future after graduation. I have always lived by the saying "when there's smoke, there's fire somewhere". I mean, what graduate would want to go out on job interviews advertising he was a member of the "team", who was lead by a leader turning his head the other way and an assistant who was a bonefide predator , and this graduate blew the whistle. (no pun intended,maybe). I'll betcha that there are ex-students who are breathing a sigh of relief that they don't have the burden of carrying this secret disgrace any further in their lives. AND I'll also bet there are more victims, who are straight as an arrow, who were in the wrong place at the wrong time and have selectively erased that scene from their memories. (don't worry, they'll come back) It's a tough enough world out there to build a career and image without having to come forward and say you were jerked off in the shower by one of your coaches. So my point is there's a lot more that probably won't ever come to the surface. Sorry but it happens everyday in business. Someone is willing to look the other way to hopefully improve their chances for advancements etc. At Penn State it became the schools best known secret. IMO

For the current players.....yes.

But you have to cut the problem at the source. The system at Penn State is to blame.
