it's just a damn shame that everything is so expensive. There are no "cheap" things to do to cars anymore really. $1000 for an intake, $7-800 for a converter, $2000 rearend ect ect. Look at how much those same parts cost for a 60's or 70's car.

I don't know an exact figure, but it's somewhere close to 25K if I include installation cost of some of the things I didn't install myself. Not quite crossing the line yet as I think I paid about $32K for the car new back in 2002, but when all said and done, it'll be close. Brakes and sway bars are next and after following Jeff's recent thread, that K-member looks like it would be a nice addition too

I had another hobby before cars...photography.

I couldn't afford both so I put photography to the side. Hobbies aren't cheap

Now that I'm actually making more money than the military paid (jeez...) the mods I did I will never regret. They were all tasteful and made it faster. Plus I research the shit out of every purchase I make, it's hard to regret anything.

I bought my car in 05 for 12K with 55,000 miles on it. I have around 13k into it with 70,000 miles on it now.

I think I crossed a couple lines in my build and its not even done yet. I can honestly day that every hard earned dollar that has been spent on my car since I purchased it back in 01 has been well worth it. This an expensive hobby, but the enjoyment of owning cars like these along with the satisfaction that comes from our projects and upgrades is priceless.

Hey Jeff, you've given me a few good pieces of advice and I need you, and everyone else, to realize that your current life is not a dress rehearsal. The way I look at it is that for over forty years I gave all I could to help my wife raise our two daughters, educate them, help them get started with cars, apartments etc etc. So at age 66 I way over paid for a 8,000 mile 2002 WS6 because I always wanted one from the day I read my first road test years ago. I've already spent a good chunk of change on the suspension. Nobody can see it but it feels real good to me. Yeah, I'll do some performance enhancements but the only visible modification will be your favorite TTll's. (real soon) Now it's my time to be a little stupid, but I enjoy it !
Everybody who sees my WS6 says "don't put too many miles on it, you'll lose value". Say what? I bought it to DRIVE and ENJOY. Not to worry about the storm clouds that may or may not move in my direction. The person who took the real hit was the one that only drove it 8,000 miles in 10 years. The way I look at it, she did me a big favor. Forget the feather dusters, it's really only a car. But a good car to have some fun with.

Nice buy on a low mile car! Sounds like your point of view is right on -- enjoy it, mod it, and don't worry about what other people think or say.

that's my thinking too......I don't put many miles on it a year but that's not because I'm saving the mileage. It's either bad weather or I just don't feel like cleaning it up to take it out for the day. When I do drive it though I drive it like I stole it. This car will most likely go to my son when he's old enough to appreciate it but for now it's my car.
