Z06... performance bargain?

I mean out of everyone on this site how many people want to punch out that kind of dollar for that car? I know i have alot better things to spend 70k on than a vette that will drop alot in price in the next few years.

I would in a heartbeat if I had it.

I say the bargain will be when GM makes a car with horsepower at a price under 25k that does not need to run off the most expensive gas at the pump.

That car exists only in your dreams. I don't think GM will EVER make a car "with horsepower" (say 350+) that sells for $25K or that doesn't either require or at least highly prefer premium gas.

If you had it does not get those cars flying off the lot. Those who do have it there will be maybe 1 out of 10 who will buy one.

That is why GM will fail. Instead of appealing the working class man they have to hike up the price to pay for a guy making 30$ an hour for a 9$ an hour job.

They have the same power... the Vette has a slight weight advantage... I don't think it will crush a Viper.

They might have the same power but road and track tested the 2 and came up with:

Viper- 12.3 1/4 mile @114mph

Vette- 11.3 1/4 mile @126mph

This is what i read... i wish i had that article online but i do know that even through the viper have the same power... it goes no where near the vette in the 1/4mile.....I'm not saying this for a fact but if someone could give some proof that would be great!

No doubt, $70K+ is a lot of coin for a vehicle. For what you get, however, the Z06 is most definitely a bargain (at least before the ridiculous dealer mark-up). The car was never meant to appeal to the working class buyer, nor is it designed to go flying off the lots in record numbers.

Don't know if or when GM will fail, but the union has had a big part in causing some of GM's problems.

yeah GM hemmorhages a $25 million loss every day and a lot of it is payment to retirees. just saw that on 60 Minutes the other night.

I just went and got the Road and Track from the basket by the shitter, and here is their results-


Z06- Dyno'd 453 to the wheels, 3169lbs, and ran 11.6@126

Viper- 447rwhp 3445lbs and ran 12.0@122

GT- 535rwhp 3497lbs, 11.50@128.7


The only person I know who has ran a new Z06 under 11.50 is Ranger on Corvetteforum.

He is a freak of nature in the driving departmen..
