Sure, every carrier doesn't have 100% coverage in the US. Ask around. Ask your neighbors, co-workers. Find out who they have and if they have any issues with coverage. You pay for what you get. Overall, Verizon has the best coverage in America. That isn't to say that you couldn't have great coverage in your area on another carrier. Been with Verizon for five years, never had a reason to look elsewhere.

Well, if you're in the market for a 4G android, Verizon has way more coverage than any other carrier.

Coverage effectiveness varies based on where you live, and here in the northeast, Sprint actually appears to have a slight edge objectively. However, from my own extensive experience on both networks, it's dead even. I've found several holes, and they are holes in BOTH networks.

They're in something like 160 cities. I've experienced average speeds in Tampa around 8 Mbps, with a high of 20. I work in Sarasota and typically see 5 Mbps. I never drop 4g at any point in the 60 mile drive between those two cities.

Average speeds on my company LTE phones are 6-7Mbps, which is EXACTLY what both my wife and I see with our sprint 4G phones. The fastest ANYONE in my company has seen on LTE is 9.4Mbps (philly, PA), and the best i've personally seen with my sprint phone was 12.1Mbps (reading, PA). There is no 4G coverage on EITHER network in the vast space between philly, reading, and the lehigh valley. Sprint's 4G coverage extends just slightly farther than Verizon's in this area (I can get sprint 4G at my office which is about 50mins outside of philly, but Verizon's LTE disappears at the lansdale exit on the turnpike, which is about 15 mins from the office).

AT&T has, I think, 22 cities with 4G LTE coverage. Sprint is just starting their LTE network. Their Wimax is NOT 4G.

NO ONE ACTUALLY HAS 4G. Just because Verizon declares LTE to be the best, and the only "real" 4G, doesn't mean it's true. There is NO standard that outlines what makes a "4G" network. LTE is no more 4G than HSPA+ or WiMax. That leaves everything open to interpretation. If you want to argue that it's objective network speed, then WiMax actually wins since it has a max throughput of 128Mbps, whereas LTE is limited to 101Mbps. None of that actually matters, since the fastest you are actually going to see is 18-19Mbps on either one. If you want to argue that the FIRST "4G" is the real 4G, then WiMax wins again, since it has been an operational network since sept 2009. LTE didn't go operational until nov 2010.

Unlimited data on sprint is great and all, but they throttle speeds and only give you like 300 MB outside their network and then they throttle you down to 2g speeds. Sprints network is tiny. Most of the time you have a connection, you'll be roaming.

There is nothing in that post that is accurate. Sprint doesn't throttle, and it sure as shit is not 2G, since 2G doesn't actually exist!

I have two android phones on Verizon, both 4G. I'm tiered on data. I pay $30 for 4GB. Got in on double data a month ago or so. I usually only use about 1.5 GB anyway, so the extra 2 really doesn't matter. Also, double check with Verizon, they give discounts to most employers.

Ahh...glad you brought this up. This is the one spot where I see a TRUE argument for going with Sprint. As I said before, they all suck, choose a phone you like or a price you like and don't worry about the carrier. That said, Sprint, right now, is running the table on plan pricing.

For example, I have Sprint's top family plan for my wife and I. We have two 4G phones, which requires the $10/month "premium data" adder PER PHONE (yeah assholes, I know). Anyway, with unlimited everything (including unlimited data, which you can't even get with Verizon), including the premiums on both phones, I pay $149.99/month. The closest you can get to this with Verizon is unlimited voice and text, with 10GB data, and that will run you $209.99 a month. I will note, they do not charge a premium for LTE use, unfortunately, there is still no contest with Sprint's prices.

As I always say, I welcome good discussion. But please, do some research before posting all kinds of craziness.

Like I said, I have Verizon with unlimited text/data (2G) and I pay $75/month, which includes my insurance coverage on my phone (something like $8 a month). So, without insurance, I would pay like $67/month.

I've never came even close to that much data usage in a month.

A year and a half ago, when I got my current personal phone, Verizon still had unlimited data. At that time I could have gotten the EXACT same plan with Verizon that I have with Sprint, except there was no LTE at the time. The plan was $179.99/month.

I agree with you about usage...even at work, where I move TONS of data, it doesn't approach 10GB a month. Very very few users are actually going to need that amount of data. It seems that Sprint recognizes this as they are neither limiting nor throttling their data connections, and offering the services CHEAPER than those who are.

That is really the only gripe I have over Verizon, and why I would have to recommend Sprint to anyone looking for a new phone. Verizon just doesn't offer anything to justify the significantly higher cost of their service, along with the data limitation.

In the end, it really is a question of who is the lesser of two (or more) evils. It's sad that these are our options.

It's sickening what you guys pay for your phones. Even mine is outrageous in my opinion. Luckily I have good friends and we go in together on things and work the system just like they are working all of you. Don't even get me started on satellite, cable and internet in this country.

We split the Sprint bill as a family plan, I pay $38 a month for unlimited everything. Great so far....We also have an xbox family plan, so that's $25 for 15 months. We'll all probably get a costco or sam's card too, or I'll just use the company card.

Yup...as long as you don't sign a new contract, you can stay unlimited (supposedly) forever.

This is why i'm glad that i'm on Sprint's top plan. I'm sure at some point they will drop the unlimited data (really surprised they haven't already), but there's no need for me to ever change plans, so i'm all set.

This is why i'm glad that i'm on Sprint's top plan. I'm sure at some point they will drop the unlimited data (really surprised they haven't already), but there's no need for me to ever change planhad unlimited datas, so i'm all set.

If you already had unlimited data, they won't make you drop it when you upgrade.
