I didn't bother to read the rest of the comments on this and I apologize if it has been said already but a wise man once said "A Camaro looks like it can kick your ass but a Trans Am looks like it its coming over to do it!"
Who's with me on this?

Like I was elluding to in my post, camaro has always been the bread and butter (corvette aside) in the pony car market for GM. Pontiac birds were done with more refinement involved, and in some cases they had better looks, in some cases not. Depends on the generation for me. But the camaro is the more recognized vehicle in the perfomance circles. It's sad in some ways. Pontiac was a worthy apponent back in the day.
Now it's just all about the looks, on both sides.

I've thought about getting a Trans Am and building it. Possibly twin turbo set-up.

Sorry but the Trans am is like the sex drive of the population the football star, has the looks, the curves and still has the balls that still makes the camaro look like the second string quarter back!!

I know what you mean, unfortunately GM saw it the other way. Pontiac was always second rate, and when it came to Fbodies, the camaro was the poster child.
I like either 4th gen, for me it doesn't matter much because the drivetrains were all the same anyway. There are cosmetic things I would have liked to change on both 4th gens.

The poster child was the Trans am, smokey and the bandit, kitt, the only camaro to be featured in a major movie would be transformers and that is recent, so I am still trying to figure out how the poster child is the camaro!! Just saying the T/A will always have better looks, better styling than the camaro will ever have, the camaro will always be the plain jane.

That's just a movie. I'm going back further. The camaro has always been the staple for pony car performance since 67 for GM. Firebird was pontiacs take on a more refined example but never really got the respect, nor was it as successfull. Not nearly as many engine options, nor was it as successfull on the tracks.
That's what I mean about poster child. It's part of the reason why Pontiac was cancelled and the camaro still lives on. There is much more heritage there.

Yea the camaro come out a few months earlier than the firebird which pontiac responded with the firebird later in the year the camaro was built, the firebird/trans am will be the symbol of sex, beautiful body lines, same interior, same drive train, same everything with the camaro. Unless in the earlier years when they where built, but the only reason the camaro survived was because GM needed something to save there crappy ass with, cause GM is nothing but a turd ass company now!! The camaro is nothing but a fat ass hunk of plastic that is nothing but a decoy to have regular people think it is the camaro built to the standards from what is originally was brought to become. I am glad the Trans Am died, cause I would hate to disgrace such a beautiful culture such as it, from what this crappy ass camaro has become!! The new Camaro is nothing but a ploy to save some bankrupt ass company!!

Mark Donohue and Roger Penske-owned Chevrolet Camaro dominated the Trans AM racing series in 67,68,69. And there have been many camaro's in movies. Gone in 60 Seconds the original 1974 movie. The orignal Bullitt movie. Gary Busey and the camaro team in Gumball Rally. Heck there was a 70 or 71 in the movie HEAT.. And I can think of many more movies with camaro's in them..

I know Dan
I was just giving shit
I never used to like the 4th gen Trans Am. I thought it looked big and bulky with its over-exaggerated body kit look and over the top hood. It has grown on me though over the last 2-3 years.
I owned my V6 Camaro for 10 years. Something about the Camaro just always sat well with me. When I 1st seen my 35th LE on the showroom floor 10 years ago now, I knew before I even talked to the sales guy I was taking that car home.
I see Trans Ams and Corvette's all day long. What I don't ever see is a 35th LE. And that, I love.
Can't say anyone I've ever ran into at a meet, on the street, or at the track has ever said anything about my car except holy shit that's one clean ass SS or that thing is sick.
Anyone who does call it a catfish...my response...try to reel me in then buddy.
