Nope. Not kidding. Just ordered a new one off eBay for $55.

That's the cheapest I've found them too. I did a bit of looking around.
Man... Glad my Camaro fob is simplistic. Easy peasy

Yeah, sounds like programing yours might be a pain as well.

I hope this means us 06er's have a couple years left in our fobs. I try to switch which key I use every week or two. If anyone figures out how to use an aftermarket fob that would be sweet, keep us updated!

Close-up of internal transmitter. Note the clasp is soldered to the battery.

As long as you ordered a new one and this one is apart, why not see if you can rig it to be able to just replace the battery for future use? I'm thinking there are a few ways to make it stay in place without it being soldered

You've got nothing to lose.

I'm going to try that.

I would. I like tinkering with things like that though.
Then, if you get it worked out, you can do a write up and save other GTO owners from having to replace thier fobs when the battery goes

OK. I am beginning to think Jr does not like me right now. Got a new, unprogrammed fob off eBay last week and took it with me today to work to program on my lunch break. Beeped once after the first ten minutes, beeped twice after the second ten minutes and beeped three times after the third ten minutes. Still won't lock/unlock the doors or release the trunk. I must have missed a step or something.

Hi Rich Did you get the key to work? What did you have to do? was it the key or wiring?
If you're behind don't give up, If you're ahead don't let up.. D.E. Sr.
