yes, very sad. been through and worked in Joplin growing up. my father has busniess that takes him there often as well. i can only imagine what has been lost in Joplin. i wish them a speedy recovery and that they will be able to return to some form of normal life, comfort and security.

You're a good man for doing that. I've got old clothes bagged up and ready to send up there for victims.

I'm listening to the live stream for the law enforcement again and now they're dealing with a lot of looting. That's almost as sad as the destruction itself.

Yesterday was a bad day in my hometown. 9 confirmed deaths. I have tons of friends that lived in the apartments that got hit and now have to no where to live. I am going to try and make a new thread tomorrow with all the pictures that were taken of the tornadoes in my hometown and the ones that popped up near my house. I honestly never felt so scared in my life.

I always hear people described the tornadoes as sounding like a freight train coming through, but now after the one that was less than half a mile from my house, I do believe it sounds like a 747 airplane taking off with a strong whistling sound. Very scary.

Glad to know you're okay Jodie. Half a mile away is way too damn close. Was this the El Reno twister that was close to you?

No. My hometown is Chickasha, which is 30 mins South of El Reno. Then I live outside of Chichasha, east about 8 miles in a one horse town called Alex.

Oh yeah, I heard about one touching down around Chickasha. You guys over in the flat lands definitely got hit the hardest. They were saying it was gonna come down to OKC, Tulsa or Wichita. As far as Alex? I've never heard of it until now. Maybe I should meet this one horse.

Definetly is flat lands. But my area has some hills. The tornado's stayed in the straight-aways and the hills. Alex is down in a valley and the tornado kind of went around it, but not by much.

You are more than welcome to come down anytime. Go with Wickedls1 to the track on Friday nights sometimes. Oh and there is a car show in El Reno next weekend. Check out the Southern forum. I posted a thread about the show. Taking my 65, as the tranny in the TA is out.

It's the same with Tulsa. We're down in a valley and most of the time, the systems struggle to produce tornadoes over us. It's the small towns around us that end up dealing with them, as was the case with Haskell last night.

glad to hear you all are safe. escaped the worst of the system that came through DFW last night. the tornado was about 10 miles south of where I live, and the baseball/softball size hail missed by less than 2 miles.

parents up in KC had a couple twisteres touch down within 2-3 miles from their house this morning. everything is good with them up there. safe and no damage.

Supposedly they found two missing children in Joplin (9 and 7) alive and well in their homes.

As for here in Oklahoma, sadly, they found the 3 year boy Ryan Hamil from Piedmont. His body was nearby the shoreline of Falcon lake after a twister ripped him from his mothers arms as they lay covered in the bathtub of their home. The younger son, Cole, died Wednesday morning at the hospital. The mother, (Catherine) and older daughter (Cathleen) are recovering in the hospital from injuries. Catherine Hamil is pregnant and the baby appears to be okay. The father, Hank, was out of town during the storm.

A very humbling situation... Even an EF3 would level my poor little town. It's just about time to invest in a storm shelter I think. They just keep getting closer, and bigger. Just the thought of losing my wife or kids to something like that...I can't even fathom the pain.

i got a phone call this morning, that a freind of mine and his family southwest of OKC in Blanchard, OK have extensive damage to their hime from a tornado that hit in their town. they are all fine. i didnt know they got hit since i did not hear word, but that's because phone service was down and the news seems to be focusing on the major damage areas and not all areas affected. they are about 40 miles southwest of the El Reno town that was hit.
