im guessing the hardtop WS6 is a regular trans am with the added parts... it could have been done at a dealer though...

Black- 2002 WS6 Trans Am M6
It could be a Formula WS6. Another difference is the bumper cover on these. Look at the pictures Black Bird 99 put up, and then look at Waynestep's icon near his name of the 02 WS6 TA. The formula has the 2 circular fog and park lights. The WS6 TA is different.

RED- 1996 ws6 formula hardtop
YES they did make t/a's and formula's that had ws6 package , there were 55 red formula ws6 made in 96 35 of which were T-tops. I have a 96formula ws6 hardtop , 55k mile showroom condition. I take it to car shows all the time and have never seen another hardtop 96 form. ws6. Ive looked all over the net and cant find one anywhere so seems I have a needle in a haystack so to speak. general maintanace under the hood , water pump distributer ,and coil 10.5 wiring harness, mass air flow and tb, pacesetter headers and dual all the way back to flowmasters. I have kept every receipt and original parts came with 3.23 gears went to 4.10. Fast and fun I do have the production numbers for all 96 firebirds ! I can post if anyone is interested.

Years ago I believe I was studying a build sheet of 1998 cars and I recall it claimed there were only 5 or 6 hard top WS6s in the first production line of the 1998s, as if it was an accident or something. Wish I could find it now, this was back in 2008 or so. But I do remember seeing something on a webpage claiming the only hard top WS6 in the LS1 era cars was 1998.

Black- 1998 Trans Am WS6 'Vert
You may be thinking of the two '98 T/A WS6 H/Ts that were most likely pre-production mules and not generally available to the public since T-Tops were STANDARD on all T/A coupes in '98+. However, don't forget T-Tops were NOT standard on Formulas until after WS6 was no longer an option on Formulas.
Here's the production numbers of WS6 HARDTOPS (detail breakdowns at links in my sig):
1996:
Formula WS6 H/T: 171
T/A WS6 H/T: 268
1997:
Formula WS6 H/T: 178
T/A WS6 H/T: 310
1998:
Formula WS6 H/T: 39
T/A WS6 H/T: 2
1999:
Formula WS6 H/T: 65
T/A WS6 H/T: 0 (no T/A HTs after those 2 prototype / mules in '98)
2000:
Formula WS6 H/T: 91
No Formula WS6 production after 2000, thus no way to get a WS6 w/ H/T after 2000.Last edited by JohnnyBs98WS6Rag; 06-29-2015 at 01:58 PM.

I know this is a old thread. But, I was also searching for other Firebird Formulas with hardtops. I have never seen another besides mine. I bought it because it was a hardtop with V8 and six speed. My plan was to race it so that is why I bought it for the extra strength. I built the car but, never raced it. Did some test runs before S/C installed. 13 flat 107.5 1/4 mile. Then built a 67 Camaro on cheap. That was a 10sec car.
I expect my Bird will do low 11's or High 10's now.... But, haven't taken it to the track.
Car is for sale, see For Sale Forum.
