Agree about the teeth cleaning, I worry about the anesthetic. And yeah dry food and treats helps, I do the same and their teeth are in good shape at 10+ years each. The oldest is 18 and her teeth are still in good shape.
But to keep from getting yelled at for jacking thread, let me say:
Down with cat kicking scum!

why does it piss you off? its optional not mandatory. Just like quality healthcare, its a privelage not a right.
it prolongs the life of your pet, while saving you money.
Also saves you money in emergency situations such as the OP, cat getting kicked.
If his cat needed stitches, xrays etc, your bill ads up over $1k fast. This keeps it cheaper, while keeping a pet healthy.
Let me guess, your the type that if your dog or cat needed $3k or $4k in surgery, you would rather put it down for $500, or take it to a field and shoot it?
In regards to the teeth cleaning, its part of the plan and no charge. Just like humans, dirty teeth can lead to heart issues.

look, i don't doubt that there are other bad things that an animal could eat that is bad for their teeth especially with the way pet food companies want to take shortcuts to make a buck...... BUT, i would put money on the fact that an animal's teeth are much better than ours and as long as they are given the "tools" they will take care of themselves... by tools i mean things to chew on either being hard foods or bones or chew toys of some type. animals do NOT get their teeth cleaned in the wild other than with (natural)tools i spoke of and i'm 99.9999999% sure they have survived just fine to this point with out having their teeth cleaned by humans.

Ya ya remember out teeth didn't evolve (or get created) to spontaneously rot. That is definitely due in VERY large part to our modern processed diets.

To the OP call aspca and report it. The person who did it might have done it before or continue to do so. Maybe other people in the area have had problems too.

2002 Z28 A4 NBM- Sadly now demodded :(
Back in the Caveman days most folks didn't live to be 80-100 years old either. More like 30-40...
And as far as the cat kicker is concerned: Kick his ass seabass.
Only time I kicked any of my cats (I'm a cat person) is when they (toms tend do this more than queens) was trying to bring a kill (even some not so killed) into the house. I drew the line at that. Most times it was the only way I could prevent them from bringing the kill into the house. And it was more of a gentle punt than a hard kick.Last edited by 67CamaroRSSS; 10-20-2010 at 09:09 PM.

yea ill feel better knowing theyll be out in a place that noone can really mess with them except for my parents, and occasional visitors, but if anyone tries anything im very positive my mom wont allow it....sure ill miss these 2, but ill feel better knowing their with my mom, and i can still visit them and play with them and what not
yea ive "kicked" my cats before but my "kick" mainly consists of my foot just being pushed into their side, or rear to shoo them away, not something i would wind back and just clobber like im kicking a field goal...

I would suspect any teenage male living nearby. Too bad there's no way to prove who did it.

Yeah more than likely true, I would also say.
And yep, I've also taken a foot to my cats plenty of times, but as all have said, it's a nudge or a push, not a field goal...
Also, for some humor, one of mine is VERY vocal in the morning when trying to wake me up to feed her. She drives me nuts. She used to crawl up and down me and meow in my face. Well after tossing her off the bed a few times, she has learned and adapted. Now she sits on the nightstand next to me, meows at me, and stretches her little paw out and slaps me on the face from a safe distance. Still drives me nuts when it happens, but after I wake up I can appreciate how cute and smart it is...

hmmm. I feel really bad for your cat, it sucks to see a lovable animal get hurt for any reason. How are you sure it was someone kicking the cat though? A heal mark? She may have been hit by a car or attacked by another animal. There are a lot of outside cats around my house, i don't mind them. They are alway fighting with each other though and one was killed by another cat. I have also had a few of them come up to me with boogered up faces from other cats. Kind of crazy...
It's a bummer though she got hurt. And it sucks you can't acuse anyone unless you see them doing it again to another animal. I hope you catch 'em!

well the fact that theres a circle like shape on her head (same as the heel of a shoe) and the fact that there was a dirt shoe print still on her head when i saw her, and all the fur is forced into the wound equal to that of a upward kick...yea ive seen wounds and marks from cat fights but to have the fur forced into the wound, and the foot print on her head, its easy to say she was kicked....but on the bright side, her eye is opened now (swelling is going down on her head) and shes her normal self, except she drools a bit now
