Back in the day John Z. Delorean was prez of Pontiac. They created the Banshee which was a 2 seat roadster. Well GM didn't want any competion for the Corvette so they threw him a bone and said, "Chevy has this new car design called the Panther. Do you want to do a sister car as a styling exercise?"

So, as you can see the Firebird (Trans Am wasn't even a car til 69) is the little sister to the big brother Camaro

Works both ways. I started all the Camaro threads for specific colors, then all the Firebird owners followed suit and did the same.
