i just shortened my post because in my tired state i think i was babbling but here's the gist of what i think is important.

in my opinion, if the passion's already dead, i'd reevaluate if she's really the person you want to spend every waking day of for the rest of your life with. dating other people will not solve that... more than likely the newness of each girl you meet will pull you further and further away from her as when you are dating someone it's usually carefree and therefore drama free and can appeal more easy and fun than your long term relationship with your girlfriend... or on the other side of the coin, it can make you realize how much you love her and that she is the one for you.

either way i think your instinct to want a break may be the wise choice. don't settle for what is familiar or "comfortable" if you are unhappy all the time with this person... but whatever you do, don't be hasty. think about your options and go with what feels best for you in the long run.

sorry if that was a bunch of nonsense it's really late, and i'm overtired, but i totally understand how you feel, but i think you should take a platonic break from her just to see where you as a man stand, don't make it about sex with others, more so how you do without her. if you are completely content being alone, then that may be your answer.

He asked me to make threads on some of my forums so he could study the responses of my peers. His purpose was to compare the differences in responses between my friends and people that I have never met in real life. The situation I described in the original post is mostly truth with some fiction added...I'll let you guys choose what is what. Like every couple, we have our issues, but we're working on them.

I think you'll all be happy to know that we're getting married in 3 weeks (9 years to the day since we first met).
