Yup, I did too. Within a couple hundred miles on my new K&N filter I started losing almost 4mpg. It just sits too close to and directly in front of the MAF. It got better after I cleaned the MAF.

I assume that the cotton filters on the Volant are also of the oiled variety, right? I haven't seen where it says in ads for the Volant...
