Do the lid. Have you already done the free mods? GMHT did all of them and dyno'd a 10 hp increase. Does your car have an LS6 intake?

Descreen MAF, and cut the bottom of your air box so it can suck the air up in front of the radiator.

Black- BLK TA modded 12.2@113mph
Yes I have 107000 miles just ran a 13.33 last night at 105.88 A4 I'm ordering a Yank stall and 3:73 gears for it that should go in the 12's nicely
Go to install university ls1 free mods and you will find it they show you everything with the pictures. headers If it's an automatic 1st stall second gears 3:73's then cam and heads
If it's an m6 Gear 4:10
Of course I'm assuming you have installed headers and exhaust on it in my case emission laws so I'm doing cat back only
Good luckLast edited by Durango; 05-12-2010 at 11:59 AM. Reason: added stuff

YEp, its a hard question to answer, some people blow them with stock power and sticky tires. I had drag radials and almost 430whp with 4.10s and it was getting noisy but never broke.

I think it is more the 4000+ rpm clutch drops at the strip that kill them more than anything.

I have 117k on my motor and did a heads and cam swap. No problems after about a thousand miles. I did drive it hard before this but did all my maintenance and took care of it so all is well

My friends 99 LS1 vette has around 140k and he has heads, cam, 3800 stall, A4 with 3.90's and getting ready to finish the nitrous install. I have 85k with full bolt ons, full suspension, 3.73's in the stock 10 bolt and plan to throw a stall in and then a cam, texas speed ls6 ported oil pump oil pump, timing chain, and some ported ls6 heads. As long as you change your fluids and don't beat on the car all the time it'll last a while yet. I don't plan on doing a forged motor till the end of next year or I blow mine up which isn't that likely since from what I've seen from friends with high mileage daily driver the LS1 lasts as long as you maintain it. If not you'll be like my old boss and blow up 2 Formula's in the course of 3 weeks.
1998 Trans Am 85k miles.
