First... See if he does it again tomorrow. Most likely he came home from his own christmas event where he was drinking and having fun. Probably just forgot.

If he does it two days in a row then I would do like above and ask him about it.

    Good Luck!

Let this be a lesson for everyone who is considering a shared driveway arrangement!

I will add to the chorus here and advise OP to have another talk with the neighbor. It sucks, yes, but like gnomee said it could be an inadvertant thing, and you need to keep reminding your new neighbor about being neighborly. Or, you could invite him over, and show him this thread, and ask him, "What do you think I should do?" But, being nice will almost always go further than being a dick, and the neighbor did seem sincere to you, right?

LMAO I was thinking that exactly the whole time, he was acting like Samuel L's character in the movie IMO! I said the same thing to my wife.

Well last night I showed up a lil tipsy from my wife's side of the family's christmas party, when we got home at like 12:30 a.m I saw his truck there and it pissed me off, so I lite up a smoke and walk over there to knock at the door, I said "hey man you need to move your truck I have family coming over to spend the night and they need to be able to fit on the drive way. He says " Sure man no problem if you ever need anything just let me know" About two minutes later he comes out and moves it. After that I slapped his back and said thanks, I was pretty vocal this time since I had some liquid courage in me. When I came home this evening "the next day" he still had his truck parked where it should be. So i'm crossing my fingures it stays that way. Thanks for all the input guys looks like a few of you have went through the same problem I went through. I think when he met me the first time he thought I was too nice and could take advantage of me, but I showed him a different side last night after I had been drinking whisky and beer all night

Okay, so I just bought a twin home which is great, built in 04' nice country area 2 car garage, 4 bedrooms 2 baths big yard very nice. Well the first day we moved in, the neighbor's F-150 was parked so half of his truck was over in our side of the drive way, I think he got used to parking it that way cause the house was empty for a year, also when he has his truck over that far he has enough room to pull out both of the cars in his garage without having to move his truck. The thing that sucks is I barely have enough room to get out and open the drivers door when I have both of our caddys in the driveway. It really pisses me off I actually have to slide over to the passenger side door and get out. So I knocked at the door for the next two days to talk to the guy and they would'nt answar "bunch of pussys" finally the third day after we moved in I put a note under his windsheild wipers nicely saying we have 4 cars we have to park here and could you please move your truck. After he got the note he moved it and everything was all good. Well last night I was warming up my car and brushing the snow off, then I finally see this fat black guy that happens to be my neighbor for the first time come walking out to start his truck. He introduces him self and shakes my hand, and talks to me for about 5 minutes. The guy seemed real nice but then before he walks away he says "you seem like nice neighbors, glad you guys moved in, then in kind of a weird tone he says "you never know what kinda neighbor's your gonna get" Well later that night after I came home from my family's on Christmas eve the asshole's truck was parked right where it used to be halfway on my drive way . I dont understand why he stopped for like a week after getting my note, but when I finally met the guy he goes and does that again, its kinda like he was stick'in it to me and saying F-U by puting his truck back there. I'm really stuck on what to do, I could complain to the association about this guy and get him in trouble, but I dont know if I should, after all I bought this place and obviously will be living next door to the guy for some time. Any ideas on what I should do next would be great, this bs is stressing me out.

It doesn't matter if he is a "fat black guy that happens to be your neighbor".
He should be a respectful neighbor and not cause problems.
I'd ring the doorbell. If you don't get a response I'd leave a polite note stating that you asked him once not to park his vehicle on your side. If it persists the association will have to resolve the problem. If you can politely tell him that in person that will be even better.
Also look into calling the police. It might be a parking infraction resulting in a fine.
A nice warning: Don't let alcohol be your courage due to unreasonable decisions that can be made on either side.
