Depends where you live...like I said it's $361 for the fine alone here not counting processing and traffic school fees/insurance hikes. But yea if it's only $75 in texas then pay it and take traffic school. I don't have any respect for red light runners but the whole right turn on a red thing is different IMO.

Classic!!!
No...seriously...we have those here as well at $100 a pop. Contest the ticket. There is a suburb near here (Schaumberg, I believe) that had that very same issue of legally turning right at the light near a mall. The residents made such a HUGE stink of that light that the town had deactivated the camera indefinitely! The mayor knew the turns were legal and mos def did not want the perception of his city diminished by a stop light that gave people unjust tickets for making a legal turn.
At least here in Chicago, you are given 21 days to pay the violation before a determination is made against you (or slap that tix on your record.) If you pay before then, the city says thank you and you can keep on pushin. But two unpaid tix here will immediately get you hooked on the Denver boot.Last edited by Mieux97; 11-23-2009 at 05:58 PM.

Can you fight it by mail? If you take pics showing that you can make a right on red then it should get thrown out. Otherwise pay it. They can't prove who was driving, just that the car went through so there is no points.

Yeah, same in Georgia, at a normal intersection you can yield instead of stopping for a right hand turn if it's safe to proceed.
But look at the photo, the angle of the lights make it so they apply only to that lane, meaning they want you to stop and stay stopped when it's red regardless of whether or not it's clear.

I've never heard otherwise than you have to stop completely at a red light. Never seen a yield law for a right turn on red either. That sure would be convenient to have. The other three right turns at that intersection have no lights and are all yields surprisingly.

The camera's that bust you for turning right on red also employ a video function - they're not just still shots. They CAN tell if you come to a full and complete stop or not. That's how they get you.
