If Kobe goes for only 40 the Lakers loose by over 20 points.
I would say his points came at a clutch time.

That's like saying no one on else on the team can huck a ball up at the basket and even get lucky... well, this is the Lakers, ya might have a point there.
When he scored 61 against a very good Dallas team in 3 quaters he sat the 4th because they had a huge lead.

LOL, a very good scoring team. never knew Dallas to be quite the defensive- minded team...
It was Kobe 62 Dallas 61 after 3.
If he was all about himself only he would have played in the 4th to try and get 80 then.
And what I'm saying is... the guy does shit to make his teammates better. I have nothing against the kid putting up that number, I'm just saying that that number doesn't actually amount to shit except for more publicity and hype like this.

I know I am the minority big time but I don't think Phil is a good coach at all. He wins titles with teams that would win if the coach went to the movies during the game.

PLEASE NAME 2 OTHER PLAYERS ON THE LAKERS WITHOUT LOOKING IT UP.
I am glad you all know Phil Jackson is the coach.
Their next best player is a guy named Smosh.
Their Center was the number 1 draft pick 4 years ago that played with Jordan on the wizards and avaraged 2.3 points per game.
Guess Jordan didn't make him better did he.
Devon George was like the 7th man on the Lakers when Shak was there now he is their 3rd top scoreer.
WHO IN THE FUCK IS HE SUPPOSED TO PASS THE BALL TO?
I bet they are around 10-31 right now minus Kobe.
I by no means love Kobe, but you have to give credit where credit is due.
Kobe is the Berry Sanders of Basketball.
Was Berry a ball hog because he ran the ball 60% of the teams plays? I remember the Lions going to the playoff's about half the season's Berry played. But he's over rated too right.
81 points and you call him overrated.
You couldn't score 81 in a week against a NBA team.
Blow it out your A55. I've been a basketball fan/player/coach for over 30 years. Kobe is not a team player, never has been, never will be. Part of the problem is he came into the league straight from HS and never had to play within a team concept. Had he gone to college, he may have learned a little more about life, team, respect, etc. All he is, is a self-centered asshole.

I agree!! I don't like it when Kobe is compared to Jordan, either. When Jordan was a rookie he established himself as the best in the NBA. But any NBA players will tell you that he became the best athlete when Jordan realized how to win with his team. Kobe has never and will never realize this. He can go stick his big head in some concrete and throw himself off a bridge.

I'm hoping that Dr. Buss can sign Yao Ming or some other imposing big man...
but NOT Ron Artest, he's a walking train wreck...
    yao ming???

haha omg what a joke. if you need a big man yao is not in the picture in my opinion

ron artest however... great player, absolutely great. i think what he does with himself is up to him. i would have prolly left the pacers if i was him too. too much shit to deal with every day. i like what he did and i would have done that too if i could get away with it. he knows he is a desireable basketball player. and i think sacro made out big time by trading him away for stojakovic.

i would take ron artest over yao anyday even if my team needed a center. yao def. wouldnt be it.
