I think people are taking this too lightly. While military gear has changed for the better, it still sucks. I wore poly pros and that other shit, I fucking froze when I was stationed at the Pentagon
and got frost bit on my pinky toe with wool socks and cold weather boots. North Korea may be broke but our boys over in Korea (Soul, etc...) are just a speed bumb until 25th ID can be activated from Hawaii. Now.... I have never been over there but I had a couple team leaders and friends that where stationed over there before I got out.

Yup, we don't start projects that we aren't willing to finish. And it is our job to the world to eliminate dangerous / crazy people and insure they don't come back, lord knows nobody else will do it!

the threats are the only way that north korea can compete at the table on a similar level with more powerful nations.
it's why they developed and exploded their atom bomb (if they have the capacity to build another one they won't be able to do it for quite a long time) and that's why they develop missiles. they are threatened by US dealings with china, japan, russia, and most importantly south korea. and think about it. the discussion completely changed after they blew up their bomb yet the discussion remained the same in iraq as they didn't have the capability to produce such weaponry.
does it make their tactics right in the end? do the means justify the end result? who knows that's a personal judgment.
either way it goes north korea is just spouting off. if they attacked south korea they would be in a world of shit. US and European allies would send troops to defend the southern nation due to UN resolutions and alliances and china would back away from north korea because they wouldn't want to face the repercussions from the US severing economic trade with them...it would ruin their economy, they know it, and they won't risk it. in fact the only nation that might even consider backing north korea would be iran but chances are pretty good that there will be a new moderate president there this next election (new even though he has already served two previous terms).
