In this case you are better going through your own insurance.
Doesn't matter what shop writes your estimate insurance companies ALL have their own policies/Adjusters/shops etc. You can choose to repair your car any place AFTER the insurance co writes the estimate. They can always do a supplement for any additional parts, labor etc needed to repair the car correctly.
When it comes to a 50/50 agreement the insurance co is stating that YOU must pay 50% of the repair bill/ rental bill and any other bills regarding the accident.
Go through your own policy and have your insurance company fight to get a better % from the other company. Geico's policies are to write as much aftermarket as possible. I don't know what company you have their guidelines may be better.
Hope this helps you a bit

I realize most accident repairs your car is gonna end up with some aftermarket shit, but I could sware you were telling us that Geico was all about cheapo aftermarket parts and nothing but.

Palisades, progressive, nationwide, geico, state farm, high point etc etc you name the company and guess what they almost all write for aftermarket when the car is a certain age. Alot of them write for used, reconditioned etc. They want to repair as cheaply as possible

Only current model year automatically gets new

I have Geico myself also, as well as the other persons. Can't I demand a new quarter panel and not just to be fixed as my quarter panel was perfect until the damage appeared. Theres no other damage on it other than what occurred during the incident. If I demand a new quarter panel, not just to fixed, don't they have to pay for it as if they just hammer it out, it won't "like it was" before the accident. Can't I demand for a new quarter panel/installation/payment estimate, but then just get a shop to hammer it out?

Just spoke to the insurance... its 50/50 the end, but this is the difference.
Filing through my insurance: I pay the deductible, my insurance pays everything above that and I get 50% of the deductible back through the others insurance.
There insurance: I pay 50% repair and they pay 50% repair.

I may not have to pay out of my pocket.. depending on the "estimate" my friend's shop can give to replace the whole quarter plan and what they can negotiate with the insurance company. I'll really just hammer the thing out.

Let me explain how Geico works for you. They will REPAIR it. They will not replace unless it is truly damaged BEYOND repair. No shop estimate will be used UNLESS it's a Geico direct repair facility. Padding an estimate is long gone. Insurance companies pay for not a thing til they have proof that the repair was done as stated (photos of entire repair/replacement) . Geico has their own adjusters to write the original estimate. They will only pay off of a GEICO estimate.
The thing you should be more concerned by is your door. They are fiberglass. They generally crack instead of scratch/scuff/dent. Usually once cracked they need to be replaced unless your "friend" is really good with resin and matting. Don't worry about some plastic on the 1/4. A good shop can make it look good as new. If they are a reputable shop the work comes with a lifetime warranty.
BTW I work for an Auto Body shop and deal with ALL the insurance companies, know how their policies are written, and I write estimates all day long.

The bottom line is she hit you which by definition means she was going too fast to stop in time to avoid hitting you. If she was starting from a dead stop there is no way she would have been speeding, but it does mean she was not looking where she was going which makes her liable for the accident.
Officers do not like to get involved in that type of crap as they don't have the time to waste in assessing blame unless they absolutely must. Anybody entering an intersection has a responsibility and duty to make certain it is clear prior to proceeding. She obviously failed driving 101.
She will probably say she was looking at the light, in which case she should have been looking where she was going. Make her insurance pay.2002 Street ET Champion New England Dragway
