places like Vatozone suck because they are chain stores that make all their money selling oil and worthless junk accessories. That being said they dont wanna pay their counter people anything, so who do you think they are gonna hire? High school kids, or moron hicks that dont know what they are talking about. Thats who works for 10 bucks an hour these days.

How much Knowledge do you expect these people to have making 8 or 9 bux an hour? Hell it's not even like they could afford to drive around cars like a ls1 Ta or Camaro. You can't expect them to know much about them.

2000 Grand Prix GTP- 2000 Trans Am WS6 M6
I love it when I tell them I have a 2000 Pontiac Trans Am and they can't find it because it's either listed as "Firebird" or "Firebird Trans Am", and then get mad at me for telling them the wrong model

LOL i used to work at an autozone. I tryed not to give advice, just asked questions and give them what they want. My store manager was a lady
(good customer service)but PARTS managers knew nothing about cars. And the training was not training on basic car crap, more like customers $hit, so yeah we cant really expect much from these ppl lol.
Yep hired my college as$ lol, but they didnt give us discount on any oil because they said their price was so low already because of all the competitors selling at the same low price.
Well actually i got payed 7.50 lol that was less than a year ago
. lol
But i was an exception i guess because i owned my ls1 TA
, and i got all my information on line
But yeah these stores sux, only come in handy if you know what you want and you dumb it down enough so they can get the right part lol.

83 Z28 new project- 98 Formula WS7-sold:(
I know what you guys are talking about. I used to work for CSK, what a joke that was also. If you could breathe and fill out the application, you were hired. When I did training for them, I remember one store where the employee, who worked there for six months mind you, did not know what an alternator was and the customer he was helping, with the old part with him was pissed off. This kid was totally clueless. He knew about racing plugs for an acura, what seat covers will work for hondas, but not an alternator, I could not believe it. I finally threw my hands up training there and went to carquest where I am now running my store. I love the reputation we have where no one else can find something or dont know what it is, we can find it for them, and my people are good with automotive, I think we figured out that between three of us here, we have 60 years of experience.

the autozone that i work at we have the store manager and one of the psm's that are ase certified. the manager graduated from auto tech at the local 2 year school. i did one year at the tech college...my store manager and i were in the same class together actually. i'm not ase certified though. one of the other part timers...his dad owns a trans repair shop and graduated from the same program that the store manager did. one of the other guys knows cars although he is not in the auto program or ase certified...he's still very knowledgeable...probably moreso than i am honestly. the one other guy that we have working there doesn't have a lot of auto knowledge but he doesn't hesitate to ask one of the rest of us if he has a question.
we don't sell a lot in the way of accessories...at least i don't think we do...not like steering wheel covers and whatnot. we sell a lot of tune ups and oil changes, brake jobs (pads, rotors, calipers, wheel cylinders), power steering pumps, alternators, starters, and water pumps.
as for the deal about not having the part on time...well...i never guarantee a day that it will be in. i tell my customers what day they expect that we should have it and then let them know that that is the usual shipping time but that fedex can occasionally throw us a curve ball. coming into the holiday season we have already had a couple of items that haven't shown up on time...but that's completely dependent upon fedex getting the stuff shipped to us on time.
i'm sorry to hear that you guys have so much trouble with the autozones in your area. i know that the one that i work at we try hard for our customers every time. if we can't get it we are honest with them and recommend a few other places to try.

PEWETER METALIC- 2002 CAMARO Z-28 M-6
I had one of the local advance auto guys tell me chevy never made a 307 and that the 75 nova that I was working on had a chrysler motor!
The funny think was I showed him the cell phone pic of the side of the block where it was stamped GM and he still wanted to argue with me!!!

had a similar thing happen at the local chevy dealer. I needed a new exhaust pipe mount for my z. so i called and asked for the exhuast pipe hanger for a z28 camaro. he says z28, ss, or camaro. I just played along and said z28. wonder what happens when someone asks for a part for an ss? ss truck, cobalt, impala?
