Some initial results from my new speed density tune with the svede1212 intake.
452.51 rwhp 403.79 rwtq
+ 12.43 rwhp + 1.07 rwtq over a year ago ... nothing has been done to the car other then replacing the LPE intake with the svede1212 intake

I saw that someone built a custom one out of fiberglass by forming/fitting foam and then applying the fiberglass over it. Came out quite nice once painted. I'm thinking of going that route since the only one out for the '05-'06 is the Varaam and not diggin it.
I'm also a fan of fuckin around and building things while saving money hahaha!

congrats on the numbers.....how you liking the speed density tune? Should be a lot less headaches idling and cruising.

Phantom Black Metalic- 2005 GTO
I bet the car runs better in the heat, now maybe he can run those 11s in the hotter weather
Now if I can get all my parts back and everything in car for Norwalk..ll be able to check this all out in person.

I found some use for parts from my LPE CAI. I reused the rubber edging that sealed the top and sides of the LPE air box to the hood and fender to seal between the radiator cover and intake.
... but more importantly I also put it on the frame to seal off the bottom of the intake from hot air rising from my tranny cooler.
Then I reused the IAT fitting from the K&N filter to secure the IAT to the back of the intake..then use a Thermo-Tec Adhesive Backed Heat Barrier* product to protect it and the intake from heat soak.
* These aluminized Heat Barriers are made up of woven silica with a flexible aluminized finish. The highly reflective surface of the material is capable of withstanding radiant temperatures in excess of 2000 degrees F.

Today was the first of three days of racing at the Super Chevy Show. …My job is to determine what gains were made by using the svede1212 OTRCAI and a speed density tune.
First the base line: April 11 - Summit Motorsports Park, Norwalk Ohio
DA: -87
60: 1.65
1/8: 7.47
MPH: 92.9
1/4: 11.74
MPH: 119.98
Todays runs: June 12 - Summit Motorsports Park, Norwalk Ohio (with the svede1212 OTRCAI)
DA: + 1929
60: 1.67
1/8: 7.55
MPH: 93.71
1/4: 11.85
MPH: 119.28
So what does this tell us other then I’m running about the same time with a difference in DA of 2000? First of all the 93.71 is a new PM 1/8 MPH, the 92.9 above in April had been my best.
My other 2 runs today were:
DA: + 2031
60: 1.67
1/8: 7.56
MPH: 93.60
1/4: 11.87
MPH: 119.34
DA: + 2013
60: 1.68
1/8: 7.59
MPH: 93.12
1/4: 11.91
MPH: 118.76
So as always my car ran extremely consistent today. Correcting the times above for DA ... show corrected I actually ran faster today then on a day when it was in the mid 40s.
April:
11.717 @ 120.333
Today:
11.700 @ 121.048
11.699 @ 121.242
11.748 @ 120.63
This comparison shows about a 1 MPH gain from the OTRCAI …. But lets look at previous runs at about the same DA. The following runs are from Pontiac Nationals weekend at Norwalk last August.
August 8 2008
DA: 2103
60: 1.69
1/8: 7.704
MPH: 91.58
1/4: 12.12
MPH: 112.47
August 9 2008
DA: 2288
60: 1.70
1/8: 7.68
MPH: 92.41
1/4: 12.05
MPH: 114.01
August 10 2008
DA: 1746
60: 1.70
1/8: 7.66
MPH: 91.15
1/4: 12.03
MPH: 114.89
…so at similar temperatures ( simular DA) in the low 70’s last year I was running 5 MPH less and couldn’t break into the 11s. Damn heat soak!!! But again my car ran consistent over those three days.
So my biggest impression so far is I’m running late fall/early spring times today with the temperature 30 degrees warmer. …the only change is the OTRCAI and SD tune. So from last year at Pontiac Nationals the gain is 5 MPH … not that the car couldn’t do it before but the svede1212 OTRCAI is keeping the IAT down. I observed that after my first and second runs today that the difference between ambient and IAT was 6 and 7 degrees respectively. The A/F mix was also right on at around 12.65 – 12.75 crossing the line ( I have a permanent wideband)
Tomorrow is the True Street Challenge where racers drive out of the park on the streets for 10 miles then come back and hot lap 3 runs for an index race. Guess I’ll see if the heat soak problem is still a non issue.
Sunday is bracket racing so still a different setting to do some testing.Last edited by GTO1_OHIO; 06-12-2009 at 06:35 PM.
