Okay, so here's the lay out of my apt complex. It is parked in an area outside of the complex parking, because the parking here sucks. I do have a garage. It's the diamond in the picture. The triangle is home and the other arrow is where the car is parked.
I park my BMW in the garage. The way our stupid apt people are, if you don't move your car every day, they tow it. They actually have people that monitor this crap. I've seen cars go as long as 3 days. Typically, if it's not moved with in 24-48 hours, it gets a sticker and is towed later. (I am house shopping to get outta here).
Anyway, since I barely drive the Z since I got the BMW, it sits in this spot. My wife and a few others park in this area because there just isn't parking when we arrive home in the evenings.
I'm pretty sure it wasn't a tire iron. I had mentioned it to someone else that lives there and they said they noticed there were some clay pigeons in the area a few days back. WTF?! I searched through the car but did not see a bullet or pellet or anything else. Whatever it was went through it fast enough that it didn't cause a dip in the glass - the way a ball or a rock would.
It's fucked up.
I haven't pissed anyone off for a very long time and haven't even driven the car other than a quick trip to the gas station for a couple of months. No one would connect that car with me for anything in months.
I checked around. It's $350 to $450 to get the glass replaced. That's less than I expected.
I'm insured, but it's a $500 deductible. No big deal.
I was going to keep the car to build it as a project. It needs a lot of work; paint, AC compressor, new battery, new window motors, stereo re-work. I'm just going to sell it if I can find someone interested.

Sucks that people do this ****.
When I was working at Wal-Mart, I had someone back into my Firebird and run off. Before that, I had someone break off my antenna. I didn't stay much longer after that..

I doubt the apartment complex "allows" people to throw clay pigeons or shoot skeet in the complex. Just because it happens, doesn't mean it's allowable.
Besides, if the car is backed in with its rear windshield facing the garage it would be difficult to hit it. If it was 'nose-in' the parking space, the back glass would only be accessible from the parking lot of the other property, not his apartment.
Dr.Millhouse, what's the parking lot for in back of your garage where you park your car...what's that building? Office? Retail store?
I'm guessing simple vandalism. The car is by itself in the back of a parkingl ot, unattended. Easy target for teenagers, IMO.

Put a sign on it that reads, "do it again bitch!" Then wait with a video camera..
JK, hope you get out of there before anything else happens to it. :crossedfingers:

The area where I park is behind a retail office store. (No video cameras).
I always leave it backed in so it was hit from the garage side.
There was a carnival type thing that was a few blocks away from there a a couple of weeks ago. That is probably when it happened. There was a crapload more people around there then and of course plenty of younger people.
Tell me folks... what's a fair price to ask someone to pay for a 99 Z with 105K that needs AC work, a back window and paint?

I'd have to agree also. I'm pretty sure my 96 was similar or the same as my current 02.
