Yes, it is. And my car is only a 12.5x second car. BUT: The only thing that actually broke was the Auburn stopped working (1 wheel peel) and the axle assy with the 3.42's I swapped for was twisted when the car it was in was crashed. The gears were swapped as I wanted a quiter set. The crush sleeve keeps getting squished cuz of the sticky MT DR's.
I can only imagine what a bitch it would be if I was racing one of these with a stick.

hmmm...I've never thought of it that way. Definitely something to think about. I guess I assumed it would just break in the 1st 60 feet(slower speeds) and/or I would just coast to a stop. I guess its also possible for something to break and jam up/lock up the rear end/rear tires. That would be dangerous at higher speeds also.

I can attest to the stock 10bolt holding up fairly well under stock power for a long time. Mine has lasted 11yrs untill I finally encountered some bad wheelhop last spring. I've babied the car since then and been looking at a Moser 9 with Wave Trac and 4.11's as a replacement.
IMO if the stock rear starts to howl it's time to put all other mod plans aside and bite the bullet.Craig

I would invest in a 12 bolt as well even though I have seen a 10 bolt take 10.0 passes on a transbrake and 500 rwhp for a season before it broke. The majority aren't like that.
