Jeff, you are going to have a hard time getting any sympathy here. Poor, poor Jeff he noticed a leak on his completely restored ’74 L-82 while working on his WS6, while it was on his lift. Poor, poor Jeff.

^^ LMAO...so true!
I am a firm believer that cars feel emotions. Love them and treat them well, and they are good to you. Hate them and beat them, and they hate you right back. But then you have one that's a little bitch and does bad things despite your love....kinda like a woman. Sometimes, even though you give her all of your love and attention, they just wanna be driven hard.

There were days when C4 in the gas tank would have made me happy.
But on the days it was running right, it was the most fantastic driving experience. My SS had nowhere near the midrange power of my Rx7.
Super lightweight, perfect 50/50 balance, phenomenal brakes and handling, and a beautiful car to boot. Loved driving it hard and then opening the hood to show the glowing turbos to the passenger.
Then the next day it was a spiteful bitch that you wanted to set on fire (though many of the '93's managed to do that themselves)

Control valve is leaking. Bolts and fittings are all tight, so it'll be getting a new one. Probably just add it to the Carlisle shopping list since I am going at the end of the month. Other than this, I have the headlight gremlin that still needs figured out and she should be good to go for the summer.
While it was up in the air, I washed down the underside of the car a bit. It is amazing how dirty things get with only a bit of driving. I also dropped the spare down to air it up for the season. While under the car, I found a passenger getting ready for his supper. Cute little guy with a whole lot of dinner awaiting him.

Let's see...
Fat body, spindly appendages, generates an inward desire to immediately swat it, and a meal 10x its own size.
Arachnid version of Rosie O'Donnell.

cars are exactly like women. They see you under the hood or under another one, you might as well hang it up. Still cars are cheaper then women and better then drugs!

Ah yes. The cold start flooding debacle of the rotary (it even still affects the Rx8)
I solved it on mine with an HKS turbo timer.
But just in case I still carried a small bottle of ATF and a coolant temp syringe.

Well... turns out that although the P/S Control Valve was weeping, it was not the primary leak. I replaced the valve, bolted up the pitman arm and attached the lines. I came out the next morning, and even though I had not yet re-filled the P/S reservoir, I found a large puddle under the car. The bottom of the new valve was wet, and it appeared that the fluid had leaked out of the joint... so I called the company and they promptly shipped me a new valve. After getting the new valve, I looked everything over again and thought that maybe it wasn't the valve, but the seal on the pitman arm shaft of the steering gear. Between the original leak and moving the wheels with the hoses unhooked, I had quite a bit of fluid on things so it wasn't all that evident where it was coming from.
Turns out that was the actual leak and I just spent the last few hours removing the pitman arm and prying out the old seal. When the seal finally popped free, I only got a few drops of fluid so the gear had actually drained itself over the last few days. With headers, there is only one position the steering can be in to get the pitman arm puller in place and it took a while to figure it out. Only good news is that the seal I bought at NAPA late last week is in fact correct. I am going to clean everything out real well and apply a little RTV to the circumference of the new seal. Now the trick will be re-filling the steering gear with fluid while it is still mounted in the car...

Oh the little things.
I helped a friend take the heads of his 1980 L48 Corvette today. The engine is SO JUNKED that the one piston was at the top and you could pound it down about 1" and nothing else moved anywhere. 4 rocker arms were loose as hell and the cylinders were full of coolant. lol One piston had a chunk missing from the top and had some nice valve marks on it. He is junking the engine so he tried the old trick of using a sledge hammer to make a piston moved and he missed and hit the block. lol Told him I would give him $2,000 for it. lol
What I am getting at is a small leak is a small issue to some. haha
Hope you get it fixed though so we can track that puppy!

Ouch! Tell him to use a block of wood next time. I ended up doing a destructive tear down on one of my Nailheads several years ago. Pistons came apart in chunks and pieces.

Hoping to get it all back together this evening. If all goes well, I'll get the insurance reinstated and drive it this weekend.
