For '02 you could not opto out with a Pontiac as I tried and still got T-tops. I think you could get a non-T-topped Camaro SS or Z-28 but not sure.

Here's another one: Just saw in one of the current Pontiac mags on the newstand, there were pics of a factory modded '73 SD-455 that was done in the black & gold Bandit style markings with the big gold firechicken on the hood and it was shown at several car shows around the country before it was modified with the front end of a '74 to make that years car shows. I think it was later modded with '75 and '76 front ends for those years car shows before being retired. The car still exists too! Didn't know that the black & gold scheme went back that far! Would sure be nice if they put it back to the '73 front end though.

Right options wrong year, if that was an 02 SS numbers would be small, but somewhere in the tripple digits

If you're looking for one I know where you can find it for about 24k. I have a picture laying around somewhere with my car taken with it. The last owner of my car has a friend trying to sell it if he hasn't already

Actually, no. GM only built one Inverse 30th T/A. It is a vert, not a coupe. Also, it is numbered "1 of 1" on the dash. A guy saw the one and only car of its kind at a show and tried his best to duplicate it using a NBM vert T/A. He did a remarkable job. Some time later at a show, a GM higher-up saw the "clone" and was very impressed with it. At first glance he actually thought it was GMs car. He offered to take the car back to GM and finish making it exact. This made car 2, which they numbered "2 of 1".

As for the original car, it was used on the show circuit for a while then given away in a contest. In give-away form, the custom top, wheels, brakes & interior were removed & factory assembly line parts put in place because the car had to meet "warranty standards." The lady that won the car was offered all of the original custom parts for it. All she had to do was sign a waiver stating she wouldn't have a factory warranty on the custom parts. She declined. A year+/- later, she decided to sell the car. It was on AutoTrader.com for $2X,XXX. I am still kicking myself in the ass for not buying it when I had the chance. Anyway, someone else did buy it for a fraction of what it's worth. He spent some time and money on it, but now has the car back in its original form with all of the custom one-off stuff.

So the 1 of 1 Inverse 30th Anniversary T/A is the most rare GM Built 4th gen Firebird IMHO, and possibly the most rare Firebird of any gen or year.

Here are some pics of "1 of 1".

Here it is in "Give-Away" form.

And here are a few pics of the "2 of 1" car.

I understand the whole 1 of 1 being rare, but which would you rather have. A 1 of 1 30th vert or a 1 of 4 out of 8 69 TA Ram Air III 4spd vert. Of those 8 all were for GM execs only and should have never entered the general public. The last sale of one netted over $250k and it was restored.

Yea... I see the rarity of the 69 verts. But rarity is usually based on numbers produced. And 1 is still less than 8 any way you cut it.

As far as which I would personally rather have... Well, i f I could afford a 69 TA vert, I would probably be able to have it AND the Inverse 30th. So I guess my answer is both.

    rare

My fav rare TA's are the Sunset Orange Metallic ones. In 2002 there were less than 600 made. If that sounds like a lot, consider there were 30,000 TA's made that year. Only a few came in that color. I'm actually looking to get one.

Check out the December GMHTP Magazine. One of the cars in the shootout (along with my 10th Firehawk) is one of these. The guy only had 800 miles on it, but took it down the track anyway! I got multiple pictures of mine and his together. Here's some of them.
