black- 2004 pontiac GTO
Yeah i would say the 05 and 06 models are definatley a better car ,but the thing that sold me on my 04 was not only cheaper by thousands its a one year only production in that body trim ,more of a sleeper to.My 6 speed will actually pull on average 27 to 30 mpg on a nice flat freeway at 70 to 75 mph thats when my wife is driving it of course but its definatley good on gas if youre disciplined enough to hold back.Never really got beat in a race yet had a close one with a STI subaru damn AWD crap but as soon as i gained speed in third i caught up pretty quickly like he was sittin still than it tapperd off.Ive gottin it to 145 mph in 4th redlined and then let off its 100 percent stock. So my point is dollar for dollar in my opinon the 04s are the best bargin and top speed on the freeway id much rather be in my geeto than a formula or ss camaro and iam sure there wont be much differnce between the 05 and 06 models as well at that those speeds but thats just me i like flying low not really into 1/4 mile as much anymore.

i'm in the same boat as the thread starter. it seems, in my area anyways, that these cars aren't very popular. which is definately a good thing. people don't know too much about them i see them on lots all the time. i'm shooting for an 04 myself after looking at the f-bodies i just think the goat is of a higher build quality. on top of that i can get a newer car with fewer miles for not a lot of cash more. i'm infatuated with a silver m6 04 on autotrader. its got ~50k on it for 16k! can't beat that.

Lots of 05's low mileage around here under $20K.....04's are between $15K-$17K....
This is my signature. It is mine. Nobody else has one like it.

Silver- 2003 GTI 1.8T :(
I heard they were built like a family car with a bunch of hp so they had small plastic things around the car breaking a lot... sounds kinda fishy to me but thats word of mouth, from what i seen they are fast and nice
