Try having to rebuild a new engine build just after you just rebuilt it. I chased a tapping noise that for 6 months seemed it was all top end. After I finally pulled the engine again, pulled the oil pan and found this.
Rod bolt
That was a new Forged rod
But that's not all....after rebuilding it again... I been chasing what ended up as a bad vacuum leak. The nuts on the back side of the FAST intake had fallen off making an 8" leak. Got it fixed and the engine is running so much better now that I ready to try a tune again. Almost forgot, one my first tune session the transmission broke on a pull and I had to get it fixed too. LAST YEAR SUCKED.....So the good news is I now have a 403ci stroker.http://www.ls1.com/forums/f7/my-6-liter-build-174257/

If your going to turbo it, look into destroking it. Get a custom grind cam that will work for turbos and spin up to 10k.

This thread....
Glad things are starting to look up, though...
I don't envy you the issues, though I do wish I had the wherewithal to do this kind of thing myself, but my circumstances just don't permit it...
And I'm loving that van! Looks like a beast!
