You can get a lot better/cheaper fuel pump for a lot less.
Read the first page of this thread. Some pump info and websites here.

So if its popping like a half-assed backfire thats the pump going out? Cause its been doing that inconsistently for a few weeks. Have to run down a fuel pressure gauge I guess.

You don't have to take the diff out to do the fuel pump. Might be easier, but not necessary.

Don't know for sure, but if you screw that A/C gauge onto the fuel pressure check port, you will probably kiss your A/C gauge goodbye. It would work like this for a while, but it's not designed for gasoline.
Just spend 30 bucks or so for a proper pressure checker, for GM port fuel injected models.

Yay I have internet again!!! Burned up my modem.....anywho found a fuel gauge and it read 64 lbs just by turning the key to on. Then the p.o.s started leaking gas around the fitting and wouldn't seal so I didnt feel real inspired to turn the car on and dump gas all over the motor. Seems plenty high to me but I could just be hopeful.

The ignition relay could be going bad. I had the same problem ,where it would start sometimes and not others, and after I changed the Ign. relay it has been fine. This was a few months back and no problems since. Good luck.
