well i stopped by my moms this evening. the cat is a total attention whore.
she likes to follow me around and wants to sit in my lap the whole time im there.
shes a very friendly cat, kinda like a dog.
i bought a flee collar for her just for the hell of it. also got her a couple of toys but all she wanted was to be petted.

i named the cat zero because thats how cold it was outside yesterday when she found me.

my mother went downstairs this moring to check up on her and give her some food.
the cat was all happy rubbing up on my moms leg. she was also hungry. this cat hasnt eaten much because shes skinny, almost boney. i told my mom to give her a little food this am, more at lunchtime and later ill giver her some more when i stop by there after work.
im thinking i cant feed her to much at once cas she will puke.
im thinking tonite ill buy some flea spray or some shit like that.

You named it. Your now an official cat owner. DONE. Also make sure it's not too young for the top spot stuff. If you get the stuff for adult cats and she's just a kitten, you will have a bad skin reaction. Take her to a vet, if it was a stray it prolly has ear mites and worms. Gross, but non-threatening to you or your mom. And when it hits 6 mo's, get it spayed or soon you will have lots of kitties.

dont use flea spary you can kill her. go to petsmart or petco and get an application of flea control top spot. you just put the liquid between her shoulder blades and it will do the rest. you can give her a flea bath if necessary before that. but i would not suggest bathing her unless absolutely necessary.

I forget what's the name of the stuff Amy is talking about but I've used it before and it works great. I had an indoor/outdoor cat when I lived in LA and had no problems. Apply it once a month and you'll never have a flea problem.

worms are transmittable to humans. just take her to a vet theyre hook you up with a huge bill careful on the flea collar too, just get the topical stuff i told you about and shes good for a month.

We have a cat now, it showed up not long before we had to have another put to sleep for medical reasons. He is the most needy cat we have had to this point. Good luck with the new pet. O ya, before its over with you will learn that cats have you, you don.t have cats.

not all cats hate water...i recently acquired a stray also. and she loves taking baths its weird....but mine was a boney thing too....i thought it was a kitten at first, maybe the size of a 8 week old...took it to the vet to get it checked out, turns out she was an adult already....she was that malnurished her whole life. back leg was fucked up from something, 3/4 of her tail is gone (looks like it was cropped) but more than likely bit off by another animal...but i gave her food and did weekly vet checkups and youd never tell she was any different than a house raised cat its whole life..

They will. The cat will swipe the dogs nose 1 time (claws pulled if the dogs lucky) and they'll be friends F/E. At least that's how it went with my bro's animals. His wife brought home a dog (puppy), the adult cat established it's dominance and now they sleep together.

Funniest thing I ever saw was the dog chasing the cat thru the house and a couple of seconds later the cat was chasing the dog going the other way.

last i remember cats hate water and will fight you if you even hold them over a sink full of water.

if you scruff them (the skin/fur on the back/top side of their necks), they cant get to you. they curl up in a cresent shape. as long as you dont dunk them in the water or right under the faucet head, you shouldnt get tore up by them...
