Early model LT1's had the up-level spoiler as an option. In 1994, if you bought the Trans Am GT, it came with the up-level spoiler standard. The base model T/A in 1994 didn't have an up-level spoiler. It is made as an option in 1993 & 1995 before and after the GT model. I'm not sure exactly what year it became standard with all T/A's, but I'm guessing 1996 since I don't think I've ever seen a low spoiler on a 1996 or 1997. Here is a link to an LT1 T/A without the up-level spoiler for those who haven't seen one (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1994-...QQcmdZViewItem).

GULLETT17- The Firebird GT was offered in 1996 and was just a regular Firebird with ground effects. There is no mention of an up-level spoiler. Here is a decent source of 4th Gen info (http://www.f-body.org/tech/4th_gen.htm).

Dude, when I first registered here at LS1.com shortly after I purchased my T/A, you were still dreaming of a learner's permit. And when I purchased my first T/A, your momma was still changing your diapers.

wow good and interesting info vannatte! i never knew that. i just thought sometimes when i saw an early 4th gen ta with standard spoiler, some idiot had just put the ta nose on a firebird! lol learn something everyday i guess

as for the TA look with the removed high rise spoiler. i think i have seen some road race TA's (???) with the high rise removed and a wing in its place. . . maybe someone has a pic?

Ive seen this too, there was a red one on ebay a while back, it looked like the pics i posted above, only it had a big ricer wing in place of the standard spoiler.. I suppose it would be functional as a road race car, but still did not look at home on the car!

    Blue GMC Canyon
    trans ams gone now

the early LT1's with the low spoiler look pretty good, but the one's with no wing look awful. just takes way too much away from the car. even if i wasnt a trans am fan i would still say they are some of the best looking cars to ever to come off an assembly line, all ya need is some cool wheels , but even the factory one's were damn good starting around 99 or 2000
