I'm sorry, Ed. She was a cutie and I'm sure she loved you just as much.

We as pet owners all know the day will come when we have to say goodbye to our little buddies, who love us unconditionally. That's part of owning a pet, be it a dog, cat or bird, hamster, whatever.

Just know that you did all you could do, you loved her, gave her a good home and that's all anyone could ask. My heart goes out to you.

All our differences aside Ed, that really is shitty. I'm truely sorry to hear. I had to put my buddy down (his name was Max) down in 98 and it still sucks.

Dogs are the worst because they are the only animal that can actually love you back. Losing dogs sucks big time.

I would agree that losing a dog sucks. I've had plenty of friends who had to put down their dogs or had them hit by cars, etc. But saying only dogs are capable of loving their owners back is wrong.

If you knew me and knew the relationship I've had with my cat for 11 years, you wouldn't say that. My cat is just as loving as any dog I've ever observed. Hell, he follows me around the house just about everywhere I go and has to jump up in my lap and wants affection, just like any dog. I'm such a sap I usually scratch behind his ears and pet him and he just purrs and purrs and gets a real contented look on his face.

If you hate cats that's okay. But just b/c you hate them doesn't mean that cats are incapable of loving their owners.

Just about 3 weeks ago my mom called me on the phone, she was crying and said I had to come and say good bye to Bear who was my 14 year old dog, who they had to put down cause of his arthiritis.

I feel ya man!, I had to put mine down about 2 months ago he was with me for 5 years, he was my boy. I never thought putting a dog down could effect me the way it did. I have found the best thing to do is Rescue another pup. -Good Luck!

When I hear about cats willfully and purposely sacrificing their lives to protect their owners, then I'll consider cats capable of the same relationship dogs have with people. My dog is better my cat any day.
