I do need the wider rim package now when it shifts into second i get a nice spin just like the 6speed guy's get.. Go with the 3.42 setup and you will love it....The only down fall is there is a little gear whine but nothing that will bother you much. I was told that it may happen because I installed a THICK CUT gear because I have a 2 series carrier and was using a 3.42. The cool thing is before when i had the 2.73 installed I would hammer it at 45mph and not much would happen but now with 3.42 it pulls just as hard as first gear all the way up to 100. Actually when you hammer it at 100 it pulls alot hard than before.

    3.42 gears are a perfect choice for A-4 ls1
You do realize that there is a breakin procedure for a new ring and pinion set don't you? If you've burnt your oil you better go ahead and change it before 500 miles or your new gears might be toast. Your not suppose to even get on it hard until after several heat cycles.

I had 3.23'a in my 98 TA A4 and swapped to a motive 3.73 and when we reprogramed the tranny for the new gears and also tuned it more aggresively so it shift hard and faster and with the 3.73 it launched harder.

Yes they did tell me this I hit the E-WAY for about 150miles round trip . I stopped once to get a bite to eat let them cool down. I did not get on it to hard until later that day. I will change the oil later this week. They seem to be fine. Thanks for looking out for me. It's just kind of hard not to once I noticed the big differance.

I went from 273 to 373 and this is my results.Car feels a lot better .
On my run, I didnt even get it up on the converter .As soon as I staged ,the tree started .Hooked ok in 1st ,it spun a little when it shifted into 2nd .LOOOONG ass chirp ..

Previous best with catback, SLP lid and 273 (A4)
    -600 D/A
    R/T -.186 ( sleeping )
    60 - 2.04 ( dead hook )
    1/8 - 8.8
    1/4 - 13.49 @104.3

    Tonight w/ same + 373's ,m/o tune and drag radials.(heavier ZR1 17"OE wheels )
    -525 D/A
    R/T - .177 ( still sleeping )
    60 - 1.97
    1/8 - 8.4

I know I could of bettered that if I could of had another shot ( I got kicked out after one run for my helmet ). It was getting colder out and I would of launched harder .
