NOT,,,my A4 vert ran 8.60's in the 1/8th which was only 13.40's on the same pass. It was a bone stocker with only a mild tune that I did myself.

And they aren't as heavy as people make them out to be.

I have both a T-top and a convertable, both SS cars,,,,and the vert is only 60 lbs. heavier than my T-top car.

The vert has the auto too,,,where as my T-top car is a 6 speed. Still only 60 lbs. difference between the two. 3,560 lbs. verses 3,620 lbs.

You can get by with just the helmet if you run above 13.49,,,but I can tell you any NHRA sanctioned track will cut you off at 13.49 or quicker (1/4 mile) without the rollcage on a convertable.

Trust me,,,I got told to park mine on the first pass. It just depends on how sticky the track is on the rules.

A stock vert can run quicker than 13.49 no sweat if you are running where the D/A is friendly. As I mentioned I hit 13.40 with mine on a somewhat decent day.

9 times out of 10 you're NOT going to run an 8.6, unless your car came from the factory a lil stronger than others. Just saying don't get your hopes up for something that is a stretch, that's all. I had a 98 TA and the first time I took it to the track, I was dissappointed. 9.0, 9.1. After a complete CAI and some experience, I could get it down to a consistent 8.9, sometimes 8.8. Go to have fun. Expect the least, hope for the best.

A 9.1 1/8 mile is only a very low 14 second pass or a 14 flat at best,,,,I'd say your car wasn't running right or you were fighting some very nasty D/A that day. Was your 60 foot that bad??? Even a 2.1 60 foot time with a 9.1 1/8th mile should yield you a 14 flat or so. Your mph would really tell the tale here as to what is wrong with your times.

An 8.60 or there about is only mid 13's as I have stated,,,most any decent running LS1 will do that in stock trim.

At the 1/8th, I was running 85.x mph. The quarter mile was 13.7 @ 102. This was with a 2.0x 60 ft. in an A4.

That 1/8 mile MPH is a bit strong for a 13.7 at 102. I have ran those exact 1/4 mile times with mine but only trap 82 mph in the 1/8th on those passes.

When I hit 85 mph in the 1/8th later on I was running 13.40's at 105 mph 1/4 mile times. Our 60 foot times are identical.
Your car appears at the first half of the track to be off to an easy mid 13 second pass with that 1/8 mile trap speed, then seems to fall off a bit up top.

Could be a weak fuel pump, maybe running out of fuel toward the end???? Just throwing stuff out there. Timeslips are great, especially MPH increments all the way down track to help really dial a car in.

Actually, it is 82mph. I was thinking of my 02, which averages a little over 86 mph @ the 1/8th. That's my fault, lol. I no longer have the 98, so I guess I don't have to sweat it. There is clearly a night and day difference between it and my 02 tho.
