how about the new heads GMPP has out, (i think they are the L76 or L92 heads) they flow around 300 cfm intake side, + only $375 a head.
would these porform on the 383, or are they over kill for it

I have a 383 ls1 with trick flow 215`s and fast 92/92. My machinest picked a cam with 239/247 .624 .624 lsa 114. Comp 11.1. HP estimate is 560 at the fly wheel. The came power range is supposed to be from 2800 to 7200 rpm. Won`t know a thing till I get it all together and on the dyno.

If I remeber the l92`s are for the bigger bore motors. Valves will hit the cylinder walls of the ls1. Not to familar with 76`s.

yup the Ls1 bore is too small, but I thought the 383s had a larger bore....or do they just have a longer stroke?

L92 valves are so large they are shrouded on a 3.898"-3.97" LS1 bore. The LS1 sleeves are so thin they can't be bored and can only take a light honing.

TFS 215's are a great powermaking head for the LS1. Don't forget though you cannot run stock rockers on these heads. You will need a $400 set of aftermarkets like Yella Terra's or Harland Sharp's.

They require longer pushrods too so make sure you measure. After you have proper PR length you will have to set the proper wipe pattern on the valve tips which usually requires shimming. None of this is difficult but you need to pay attention to detail....

I have the yella terra`s. I found them on sale. Can`t really remember what I paid for them. But it they were inline with a good quality single mount rocker. I bought my heads (T/F 215`s) from TEA. They milled the heads and sent the right lenth push rods with them. I bought the terra`s because they are light and sat on a double pedistal. I think for what you are getting the price is very good. Now where I think I screwed up was the lifters. I stayed with stock. I`ll know after break in and tune.. I think one of my biggest problems will be hooking up. Oh by the way, my heads flow 319 int and 259 exh.

SWEEEEEEET! Ya I think hooking and breaking other drivetrain parts will be your next issue lol. LS7 lifters are pretty good and should be OK. Just get new LS2 trays and you will be fine. They are sturdier than OEM LS1 trays and and not as much chance of lifters spinning in the bore.

Post up how she turns out!!

I have a new circle D converter and transmission. I have a quaiffe atb installed in the stock rear end and an after market upper bracket for diff nose lift. I also have 300z cv shafts. The car was running 11.56 and 1.68 60' with the old 350 aand 700r4. I should be good up to about 600 hp. I just don`t think my old nittos will hook with me putting out 140 more hp and gobbs more torque not to mention going from a 3200 stall to 3600.

Would you consider this to be a good cam for torque? How would the v2/v3 torquer be compared to my current cam.

I am going to be getting the specs of a v2 at a 112lsa to go along with my trick flow 215cc heads, its a great cam from what I have heard from people on here that has it.

    dyno 383 ls1

Before stroked, was 480 fly 458 torque, 403 rwhp 378 torque on a dyno jet. Added a stranged 12 bolt 4.11's.
    On a mustang dyno was 397.82 power@5500rpm,424.2 torque @ 4500.
    399.9 @102 mph
    694.0 @85.0 mph

i would think u would be over 550 with the 383 setup at the crank..hell u should be over that at the wheels..look at texas speed car they got stock bottom ls1 with ms4 cam, fast intake, prc 215 heads but also milled them more an flycut the pistons because of milling more an made 550 to the wheels so u making a 383 stroker i would think u do the right milling an stuff u could be over 550 at the wheels

If you peaked at 5500rpm, you have a problem.

Whats the complete setup? Heads, intake, exhaust, valvetrain, etc...

    lpe ls6 cnc'd heads
    fast 90 intake
    fast 90 TB
    Long tube 1 3/4 flowmaster 3" with e cutout
281 Hr street strip cam with the ratio changed from 1.6 to 1.7(same cam used with my 346ci ls1
    pully
    msd wires
    free mods

-looking at the mustang dyno sheet it looks like the power starts to flatten out at 5125rpm. from 103mph to 109mph it just stays flat. The shop whom did my car for me said we could get a little more out of it changing the msd limiter. From what I gather not being a expert at all, It looks like it could be a few ponies more but she is pretty much close to as good as shes going to get. Also it has not had a dyno tune either so who knows. What dyno is more accurate, mustang or dyno jet? What is the conversion? I used 17 percent on the dynojet and 20 percent on the mustang.
