Basketball is just one sport. If you want to say best Basketball player then Michael may win but I think Bill Russell may have something to say about that. Hey, how about Babe Ruth ? He was a great baseball player and pitcher but I bet he could not play Baskerball. An Athlete can do everything well. Check out Jim Thorpe or Bo Jackson.

I remember Bo Jackson being the man when I was little then he just was gone and forgotten, I always thought he was awesome.

You didn't fully read what I said....I said rising athlete sure he's not much right now but he has a determination like none other. The media is blowing it way out of context but I followed him when he was at Florida and I respect him for the way he lives his life and he's not afraid to say something about it. I'm just saying he's proving people wrong and if he can continue then the sky is the limit is he all time great no but he's got a chance.

Honestly, I think Hakeem "The Dream" Olajuwon is the best center to ever play. You may be able to put him pf/c but still. No one talks about him amd he was the man.

And look how many people have payed fpr his services inthe offseason. Kobe then Lebron and this year Dwight Howard. Maybe this year was Lebron but either way the greatest of current players want his knowledge of tge post game. Not Bill Russell, P. Ewing, Shaq, Kareem etc...

I believe Bo Jackson is the best athlete I've seen.

As far as basketball goes, I'd say LeBron James is the best athlete, and not necessarily the best player........yet. MJ is still the best player IMO.

+1 as a physical specimen it would be hard to top LeBron, no one that big should be that quick. Like I said before I'd love to see him put on some football pads, he'd be one hell of a tight end haha.

Phelps is the best swimmer. I don't have any type of gauge of how great of an athlete he is.

Jim Thorpe is definitely in the discussion - he was awesome at pretty much everything. At the time, I think he definitely was the best athlete of all time.

I agree championships are a tale of the teams ability. People seem to forget that even MJ was part of a pretty good team.
