I would not get to hung up on the HP ratings when looking for clutches, the torque rating is the important number.
Monster is a damn good clutch and so is the LS7. With the LS7 it's good for most bolt on's but once you start doing H/C/I swaps or bigger engines then you need to look at others.
A Monster stg 2-3 will handle most engine builds.
FBJ knows of another clutch kit that I can't seem to remember off the top of my head, I think he said it was Centerforce...something like that. He'll confirm for you if you ask.

I agree totally Scott my thinking is the LS7 is a stout motor and and I can guarantee there are Vette's out there with bolt on's and tunes and those clutches are holding up at track days and street pounding. My build will include a mild cam and heads eventually and my research told me a ls7 clutch would handle the load as it was a proven mod. If I ever go more than that I would step up
99 Trans Am, SLP Lid, Blackwing filter, smooth bellow, Ported TB, LS6 intake, Ws6 lower ram air box, OBX LT's, Magna Flow cat back, LS7 clutch, Tick MC, Hurst Shifter, Frost Tune, UMI SFC,LAC, STB, PB, Torq Arm, Super Hawk hood, Torq Thrust II, Kee Audio.
Strange S60 4:10's, D&S Rotors, S/S Brake Lines.
Nitto NT05R Track Tire's, 12.7 @ 108 / 1.82 60'
Wish list.

My prior clutch was a LS7, now is a Monster stg 4. Got a good deal on it from a member.

Better grip on the clutch plate due to the materials it is made of. Great for 4000 rpm launches

John what tranny did you go with is it a magnum? Is it close or wide ratio? I'm hoping to work a deal with a buddy who just won one in a contest and not sure yet what it is (close or wide) but I tried to do some research on it and don't have a clear mind on what would be best for a mostly street car and sometimes track car. You have any insite!
