Wow, blows my mind how the IROC-Z's handle almost as good or even better than the 4th gen F-Body's, that's some cool shit. I even read it outhandled some of the higher dollar car's of it's time.
I'm thinking a bolt-on LT1/T56 with all the necessary supporting mod's (built rear etc.), and a handling based suspension setup matched with grippy tires would be a killer setup for the car, while keeping the same 245's (I believe?) OEM IROC-Z wheels all around and full interior, to give it that sleeper look. That would be too fucking awesome.
For example:
Just picture this, dropped, tinted windows, LT1/T56, full interior (nice working radio, A/C, power windows etc.) while being capable of pulling 1.00+ G's around corners. I wonder if this little idea of mines is possible? I think that would be an awesome project for someone to take up.

I grew up with these cars being all over the place... and now we have just a handful with most of them being all but junk. I wouldn't mind adding an Iroc to the stable someday. There is one very sharp looking gray Iroc with TTII's that runs around our town, but its owned by a shitdip.

Friend of mind had an old GTA Trans Am with an LT1/T56 no interior/caged... He now has an 80 Firebird.

Phantom Black Metallic- 2004 GTO M6
I would LOVE a third-gen IROC or GTA if not an 89 Turbo T/A.

Yeah, never thought about it like that, it may not work, don't know. I know there are street tires out there that exist that are capable of pulling 1g's, but not sure if they will fit on an OEM IROC wheel. Doesn't have to be exactly a 1g puller though, was just kind of emphasizing.

I'm planning on it. Just put 350 miles on the truck today, 150 of which in the fuckin' hardest rain i've ever driven in. Just plain BAD. Pulled over for 5 minutes or so to just rest my mind. Even parked with the wipers on high (Bosch one-piece wipers at that) and I couldn't even see. Passed TWO motorcyclists out in it too, i was feelin' for them.

It rained... that is for certain. Now I am going to have to mow again this week.
Looked at one last year with 471 original miles on the odometer. It's in a garage less than 2 miles from my house, but the owner has not yet decided if he wants to sell.

Yeah, 17's would look good, but not the 20's that people seem to gaga over.
