^ Sad but true.
And now Washington state is considering a "Breathing Tax" on bike riders, because when they ride they exhale lots of CO2.
The email from the lawmaker, which was written to bike shop owner Dale Carson, goes on to say that because bike riders have an "increased heart rate and respiration," the act of riding a bike "results in greater emissions of carbon dioxide from the rider. Since CO2 is deemed to be a greenhouse gas and a pollutant, bicyclists are actually polluting when they ride,"
I truly wish I was just making this up.
Edit: The politician in question has realized just how stupid this idea was and has "clarified" his comment (ie, there was a huge backlash that I wasn't expecting that made me look like the idiot that I am) and has claimed it was just a thought.Last edited by CJREX; 04-12-2013 at 05:21 AM.
