Still waiting on Chunk to fill out....he just turned a year old last month. Not sure what he weighs right now.....at 8 months he was 101lbs. I would just rough guess him in the 120ish range maybe but that's a total guess. His dad went 175 and his mom went 140 so I figure he'll be 170-180 after he fills out.

Wow! How many lb of food does he eat a month? Is he on kibble or raw?

kibbles....he doesn't really eat much IMO for how big he is. If anything he could stand to eat a little more for his size. He regulates his own food......we just keep the pan full and he just grazes throughout the day. I'd say a 50lb bag will last us 3 weeks or so. I'm sure he'll turn up the heat at some point on the eating but right now he's pretty thin but he's also young and very tall. I want him to get that big bull st benard look to him. The bigger the better. He's a huge lovable teddy bear. He adores the kids and any friends of theirs that come over. He has started growling and barking at strangers which I have no problem with as long as it's just strangers and he's not actually trying to bite. Just seeing him and hearing that deep bark should be enough for most sane people to stay away if they don't know him.

Kami was adopted at 8 weeks old last October so she's about 1 yr and 3 months now. She's about 47 lbs of pure muscle.

Couldn't agree more about all heart. It's amazing how loving and playful she is. She's also very protective...not only of me, but anyone really who she see's being threatened at all.
BTW - awesome picture of yours jumping off the pier into the water. I've yet to have her in water, but plan on it next spring time.
Oddly, Kami NEVER barks...she just wags her tail constantly. The only time she barks is when I'm rough housing with her, when I tell her to for a treat, or when she hears someone outside (example when the mailman delivers mail)...other than that, never. Kind of a big difference from the pure bred black lab I had before. She wouldn't ever shut up

we almost got a shepherd......I've always like them. Had a few problems.....I wanted a white one and my wife thinks they look creepy. haha My brother had a white one that went 110 lbs......cool dog. In the end I wanted a bigger dog. Started out looking at mastiffs and newfoundlands until I saw the prices. I will have a newfoundland one of these days. Got a good deal on the st benard ($350 with papers) and bought him immediately. Glad I made the choice....he's been a perfect dog for us.
I did a lot of reading before buying one and read they're hard to train and not real bright in general but Chunk has been one of the easiest dogs to train I've ever owned. He also picks up on things really quick. Not sure who wrote that article but they must've had a bad experience. As with any dog he's not completely perfect and has some drawbacks.....he's bigger than shit and makes a huge mess when he eats. We've finally about got his eating issue fixed by getting a super absorbant mat for under his water "bucket" and going to really deep bowls. He doesn't drool as bad as I expected really......you just don't pet him after he eats for a while and don't pet him after he gets done running or being excited.
He also hates to be left alone. We have to dog proof the house if we're gonna be gone longer than just a few minutes. Nothing below 4-5 feet is safe. Everything has to be off the counters and shit like that.....the fridge is about the only safe place and that's just because he hasn't discovered that's where everything is yet.
When we leave him he doesn't eat stuff......he just drags it through the house. He will empty an entire clothes hamper and have clothes from one end of the house to the other. He will take loaves of bread and tear them apart but not eat the bread. He also will get the roll of toilet paper off the roll and do 1.3 million figure eights around the house with it. We just make sure the bathroom doors are closed and nothing is on the counter, stove, or table. I bought him a big ass cage and tried having him travel in the nose of the 5th wheel in that.....cage lasted 1 trip and he ripped it apart.

The shepherd is Dreager. And he is my world. I love him to death. If hair is a problem never get a shepherd. We had them in Iraq as protection dogs and bomb dogs. That pretty much sealed the decision for me.

Kami has extremely short hair and she shed's extremely bad. I can brush her daily and still get clumps. Short hair isn't exactly easy to clean up either!!!

are they really worth the $$$$ OVER A REGULAR DYSON?

I've only owned the the Dyson Animal, so really couldn't say in comparison to the other Dysons'. I can say that it's the best vacuum I've ever owned for carpeting and rugs though. Kind of a pain for floors. As a rule, I don't like uprights. I've always preferred canisters. But the Ball makes this upright a lot more maneuverable then traditional uprights. It picks up animal hair like crazy though. My dogs may be little, but they're fluffy as hell
