Magnaflow Vs. Borla
hey guys, i'm new to the forum and this is my 1st post. I've got a 00 Z28 (A4) and i'm planning on gettin a cat-back exhaust soon, but of course i don't have a crapload of money to spend, so i've narrowed my decision to magnaflows new quadtip exhaust and borla's quadtip, i just want to know which one will be better in terms of torque and hp improvement as well as sound gratification : ) ?

I have borla on mine and there is someone in my car club with similar car and Magnaflow. Personally i like the borla. The other car's owner said that magnaflow wasnt much different than stock(ws6 exh.). I dont mind the sound of the magnaflow but like the borla sound much better.

price wise, you'd be better off with Magnaflow. you can even find people selling theirs on the boards for cheap.
and there's a thread on ls1tech where there were numbers posted from a dyno'd mustang. and the differences between the cat backs were litterally 3-5 hp and 3-5 tq. and for the extra 300-400 bucks for a borla, for the 5 hp gain isn't worth it. and those higher numbers
(4-5) range, were flowmaster.

I would go with the Magnaflow system. I've heard it on a couple different cars, and it sounds great both with stock manifolds/cats as well as long tube headers. Its also much more cost effective than the Borla, and its stainless steel I believe, too.

Had a Borla adjustable setup...Originally with stock manifolds, cats and stock Y pipe.
Swapped on longtubes and ORY.
Absolutely hated the gurgle sound when accelerating, sounded like it was going lots faster than it was...soon afterwards I sold it.
Swapped back on the stock catback, which actually sounds pretty good with the longtubes.
Have a Magnaflow setup coming...2019 Silverado LT Z71 5.3, 8L90E

hey thanks for the help, i think i've decided on the magnaflow quadtip catback system. according to magnaflow, it gives a 17.7 ft-lbs of torque and 13.8 horses and it's gonna cost way less than the borla system. So thanks again for all the help everyones been.

Why 300 bucks more for the quad tip magnaflows. Nothing different in performance. Just looks like different tips. They do look nicer but not 300 bucks nicer.
