Compare Z07 to RAM Powergrip Clutch Kits?
OK I'm down to 2 choices. Z07 and RAM Powergrip. Price installed is the same. My needs are few. Max power in the future is probably less than 400HP. Right now I'm stock. So I guess the final criteria for me is streetability. I sometimes stand in long lines at the base where I work (especially after 9/11), and the wife drives it sometimes. Anyone know the relative clutch pedal effort between the two? Any other differences that are important? I don't want a chattering clutch either or one hard to drive smoothly in the rain.
Thanks,
Jim 98 Z28 BGM

Did you mean LS7? I've heard good things about both, but no experience with either yet. I'm having the Ram Powergrip HD installed this week. I can give you my first impression then. I would think you should over-clutch your car. So you don't overpower it with future mods. Should you choose to. Just my .02.

a friend of mine just purchased the ls7 for his Z clutch pedal firmness is almost like stock, and there was no chatter. one thing to remember is that you have to get the ls2 flywheel and i believe the hydraulics to go with it if you do a ls7 clutch. my friend changed out everything, slave cylinder, throw out bearing and all, not sure if it was needed but the ls2 flywheel is a must.

Thanks guys. That's the second report I've heard saying LS7 (not Z07) is just a little firmer than stock. Sounds good to me. And yes the price quoted had the flywheel and all new hydraulics. And the report on RAM Powergrip will be good to hear too.

Here's the prices quoted. I don't mind a little markup on the parts, and the labor seems reasonable.
