I cannot say I purchased my first two cars. However, I have purchased every car AFTER that. I live in an extremely rural town, its honestly 18 miles north, south or east to get to anywhere with work-opportunity. My parents bought my first car, a 93 Plymouth Acclaim, 4cyl, 3spd auto, 4 door, trans slipped the entire time i owned it. The dropped 600 bucks on that car and paid the insurance on it at the time. I drove that car for nearly a year or so while I worked a minimum wage job at KFC/Taco Bell. While at this job I purchased a 91 Eagle Talon non-turbo for 175$ with a blown engine, and with the help of my dads mechanical knowledge and my paychecks, put over 1000$ into that piece of shit rebuilding that motor, and it still would not run, it had a wiring problem and was smoking computers as fast as i could put them in. I sold it to a junkyard for 350$. Drove the acclaim for a while until my dad realized just how un-reliable it was becoming, trans slipped in first and second gears, shuddering all the way from stop til 45 mph. For graduation he bought me an 89 V6 Firebird for 1900 with fresh paint on it which I fell in love with. I drove that car for about a year and decided that where I live I needed 4wd, so i took it off the road and bought a 1990 Ford Bronco fullsize for 1500. Drove that for about 4-5 months and probably put another 1000 in that in pieces and parts, it was whooped. Parked that, started driving the bird again and sold that bronco for 1500. Put that money in the bank then found my Ranger, bought that for 1800 cash, then sold the firebird for 1400 to put a lift and tires and the fiberglass and the bumper on the truck (its all on cardomain if you care to look) and to this day I still have the ranger. Since then I've bought a 93 HD Sportster 1200, sold that when I bought an 01 HD Softail Springer, and now I've got the 97 'Bird which I paid just under 1200$ for in cash. Everything I've got is paid for except the bike, which to this day I have never had to ask for help making a payment on ANYthing i've ever had.
Regardless being as this is basically just my story/rant/generally being PROUD of what I've got and knowing where it came from, my point is that these spoiled fucks you guys are talking about piss me off, and if you are one of these kids don't take offense.
I've always wanted a nice vehicle and I've had to wait and work for it. Thus I appreciate everything I have just that much more, because its MINE and I take pride in it. It's always really irk'd me that people have the nuts to assume your daddy pays for everything when you have anything nice. Yeah, my 89 firebird was a nice car and my dad paid for it, but I didn't go out doing stupid shit like speeding into trees and guardrails and generally just beating the shit out of it because if it broke daddys wallet would fix it.
ok i'm done

hahaha, just a short story.
Basically: Parents bought first two cars, i took care of said cars. Bought every car and bike after that myself and maintain them, pay insurance, gas etc.
I've never had to borrow gas money, either. If i didn't have gas, I didn't go. Simple as that.

I'm stupid? Haha, I got a lot going for me sonny. Been there done that. Now take your milk and cookies and then hit the sack 'cause your obviously cranky from not getting your afternoon nap you little snot bag.
And being 24 is only 8 years between 16, so in my estimate, your not too far removed from being some pimply faced 16 year old twit.

And look at you, 23 and driving a Lex. Grow some sack. When I was twenty 3 or 4, or 16 for that matter, my parents didn't buy me a car. I paid my own insurance too.
Take a poll of the older guys and you will see that most had to hump ass to get a car that was held together with dental floss and gum. And pay for it
Obviously you too have many things come to you easily. My generation didn't.
If I can make my kids life easier that makes me stupid huh? Wait 'till you have kids. You'll then know where I'm coming from.
