Exactly! their idea of hard work is telling their secretary to handle it! too bad they have their kill list every year. if you don't watch it, they'll just kick you out because everyone wants in.

Hopefully the recruiter can get you a ASVAB waiver

When people think of Marines, sitting around isn't what normally comes to mind...i'm surprised you would think that.

Everyone has dreams of being in some sort of special forces but most end up being a regular grunt (primary MOS has to be infantry to try out)...and there's nothing wrong with that. You have to be strong and smart to be in a special unit, most people are just one or the other...or a little bit of both.

Anyway, the truck sounds like the way to go. In 93 GM had TBI on their 350's...so your dads 1500 isn't carbed. The air filter looks the same so I can see why you think that...but take it off and you'll see the difference.
I had a 92 silverado with the TBI 350...it's a good engine that's very easy to work on. Stock it has good low-end torque but lacks ponies up top....nothing mods won't cure though

TBI is throttle body injection....it kinda looks like a carb but it has two big fuel injectors hanging over the barrels. It's a primitive computer controlled fuel injection setup and has a lot less moving parts than a carb.

And don't believe everything you see in videos and recruiting posters...there's a lot of downtime in every branch and every MOS (your job).

Well...the first thing you need to do, is learn how to spell and use proper grammar. I'm not saying that you have to be an english professor, but you are misspelling some pretty basic words. Academics is a requirement in all of the basic training program's weather it be Marine Corps, Army, Navy etc. If I remember correctly, english, spelling and grammar was a big part in the ASVAB testing. Not trying to bust your balls, but it's something you need to think about if you want to succeed in any of the Service's.

who said the marines sit around? I was talking about the chair force. my asvab was a 89. As far as recruiters, you have to realize that they have a quota to fill, and you're a number to them after you're gone. Yeah, special forces is what everyone wants it, too bad most people can't make their training. that's why they're the special forces. and it doesn't ever stop or get easier.

asvab was 89 and what did you end up doing. what should i physicallybe able to do before i leave for bootcamp? like how far should i beable to run and about how many pushups and sit ups. go without sleep and eating? what dose a normal day for you consist of. how much spare time do you have. and when i sighn up do i have to go to a recruiter dose the marines have a collage like west point?
i have gone to the web sights and the army one told me alot more is it kinda the same?

West point I'm not sure about. Marines' use a lot of the naval education and structures. with my asvab I did Crash Fire Rescue. It's firefighting for aircraft the military has. through that I got EMT qual'ed as well. I wouldn't recommend the job though because it's being 'phased out'. there is no bonus for re-enlisting back into it. A recruiter would not tell you that, but most people that go for the job don't get it. I was supposed to be tank crew. They constantly fubar what job you're getting. Free time, most marines work 7-5 weekdays, with whatever extra the squadron(for wingers) or platoon (for groundpounders) has that week. for the marines, not so many pushups after bootcamp, pull ups are what you have to be able to do. do twenty and you pick up rank quicker. running, marines is 3 miles in 18 minutes. you could take as long as 30 minutes though. 100 crunches, not full situps. I think army goes by pushups, 1.5 mile run and I think crunches or situps. The airforce, is actually easier to do if you're out of shape because they go by your heart rate. the higher the heart rate the better you do, but if you're in shape, your HR doesn't jump much.
It's something you want to talk to people about who've been in RECENTLY. someone from Vietnam era (while interesting to talk to) isn't going to be able to tell you how today's military is.
when you first start talking to a recruiter, tell him you want a sign up bonus of a couple grand, and you want your job guaranteed, get both in writing. that way you can hold them to it later when you don't get one or the other.

During bootcamp you get 8 hours, but you feel like you need more. after bootcamp though it sucks cause you sleep when you can. I got used to about 4 ever 24. eating sometimes is MRE's which you'll get sick of. but it's food. anything else just PM me.

If you're not married you'll live in the barracks when you're not in the field or on a float...if you're married you and the wife will either live on base in a shitty house or get paid to live off base.

You can't have a car in boot camp or your MOS school...but once you're in the fleet you usually can. The barracks has a parking lot but you probably won't be allowed to work on it there...some bases have a place where you can rent lifts. If you go overseas you'll usually have a designated area to store your car.

Infantry...you'll PT...clean weapons...PT...clean weapons....BS around...do some training...libo. Like everything else it depends on the unit and who's in it at that time. Most MOS's you'll wake up and PT(physical training) and then go do whatever your job is. You'll usually be done with morning PT and showered by 7....so yea, your day starts before 7

Most if not all bases have a gym...some are better then others. There's many different types of ranges on bases. You'll train in many types of weapons depending on your MOS...you'll have to qualify with most of them.

If by "how often do you move" you mean change units...it really depends.

military occupational Specialty (technical way to say "job")

^that's kind of a silly question. are there people like that on your football team? there's people from all over the WORLD in the military. no two people are alike. you don't even have to be an american citizen to be in the american military. go figure, but there are all kinds of people in the marine corps, and yes, people crack under stress sometimes. I'm not saying that people are going to plug you like in FMJ, but I've seen a dude freak and become completely useless. they had to get him a different MOS. it happens, and you have to realize what you're walking into. It is a Combat occupation, no matter what you do, and you can get KILLED or SHOT. don't think that it can't happen.
