Black- 1999 Camaro Z28
help for the new girl...please
Hi boys! (and ladies!!!),
Just bought my 7th Camaro and am looking for a little advice. It's a '99 Z that is completely stock. I'm looking to make it faster/meaner...but I still want to be able to use it as an everyday driver if the mood strikes me to do so. My problem is I've read a lot of other posts with similar questions and I have NO idea what you're talking about. Can someone put some of this stuff into "girl" talk for me? I don't even know where to take my car to get anything done to it. Any help would be great! Thank you.

The car is an automatic so I'm thinking a shift-kit for sure. I would like to spend 1000-1500 for right now. I'm sure I'll be making less trips to the mall in the future and spending more (or all) of my fun money on my car...but it will be worth it! Not too interested in nitrous. Would like to get a chip and a supercharger when I can afford it. I don't understand cams and lids and all that stuff. I know i'm wanting to take the "sleeper" approach. I'm SO sick of Mustangs revving on me at lights, and having to take the high road and just let it go instead of getting on it 'cause I'm not sure if my car has what it takes. I'd rather people think it's nothing special, then destroy them when they come asking for it. Already thinking of putting FALL BCK on the license plate.

OK, being stock you can already take out most 'stangs and jsut about anything else.. minus the cobras and some vettes.. but get a lid (the plastic piece that covers your air filter), long tube headers, a stall, shiftkit, tranny cooler, and a cat back and you will blow just about anything away... All that will cost a litle bit more than you want to spend.. but if you look around, you can find good deals.

Light Pewter Metallic- 2K Camaro Z28
Get aftermarket stall, go with either Yank or Vigilante 3500-4000. Find out what gear you have 2.73 or 3.23. Get a pair of longtubes (if on the budget go w/ pacesetters), cat-back (stay away from FLOWMASTERS 80 series) or set of true duals, Lid (aftermarket air intake box), free mods (port/polish tb, tb by-pass, tb bump stop mod, Free Ram Air mod), 3.42 or up if you have 2.73s, there isn't any chip offered on LS1 fbodys but you can have it tune! I still had stock tune of 11.9 w/ my Z28 even w/ lid, full exhaust, free mods, poly MAF ends, so I got my car wideband tune (street tune not dyno tune) to 12.9-13.1 AFR.
