2002 Monsoon WS6 head unit question

When I use the actual volume knob on the unit,...

I can be attempting to turn it down, and sometimes (50% of the time) it will actually spike up the volume, and I have to turn and turn,and finally it goes down..

Is that a normal wear and tear known issue for this unit?

mine does the same thing, i had a 97 T/A and it did the same thing. so i am guessing its normal

is it a rotary knob? if it is buy a can of spray air. pull off the knob and spray behind it.

cool - I will try that tonight, I have a can of compressed air- I use it to clean my interior of my cars -- vents, and seems etc.

It is a common thing for all pontiacs with that type of knob on it. My grand am does it really bad , my TA does it somewhat and my moms grand prix did it.If the air thing works let me know. I will try it. As far as I know it is a part on the inside going bad and nothing you can do but have it fixed by pontiac or someone who services these head units.
