pewter- 2001 z28 lingenfelter 383
the only cars that were limited were z28s with NON z rated tires.....your car has no limit......ive heard of cars with a limit of 160....but im not sure if thats the top stock speed or if theres a limiter.........u really shouldnt be going any faster than that in a z anyways......car could fly away.lol

White Liquid Silver- 2000 Camaro SS/ 02 YZF-R1
I bought my 93 Auto brand new and that would easily bury the needle, I got my 00 SS 5 years ago in Texas from a dealer and everything appears bone stock (gears) , it pulls real hard up until 130 when it shifts into OD and then it's feels like that's all it has...?

I want to hit 160 sometime...145 feels very safe for me....there's plenty of roads out here where I could try 160 and not hurt anyone but a few cows and myself.

Blackety Black- 35th Anniversary SS
I had my 02 Z up to 125 still pulling but ran out of road. I've only had it a week and a half so this will change. I had my 88 IROC up to 135 then a rod pushed a lifter out and embedded itself into the intake manifold. Yea lost power brakes and steering @ 135, and there is now a sh*t stain on the driver seat!

Blackety Black- 35th Anniversary SS
Yea I love it. I have been debating whether or not to get a 4th gen or a 1st gen camaro for the past 3 months, found the ultra Z on the internet and had to have it. Not to mention my bank wouldn't finance a car for me unless it was '96 or newer.

You guyz should really get a handheld gps or radar and see how accurate those numbers are. I know on a several sportbikes I gps'd they read 180 while gps'ing 164. Also It really seems with the m6 super mpg overdrive that 4th or 5th would pull more speed especially if gears are 3.23's or taller.

I could see how they would be off on bikes if you changed a sprocket ratio or something, or if the rear gears are changed in a car then the speedo won't match. I'm pretty sure i was going that speed, seeing how i was passing 75mph traffic like they were sitting still. That would be neat to have that GPS though. And for the record i really didn't shit my pants. It was a figure of speech!

"Arest Me" Red- 1998 Camaro Z28
141 and still pulling with the t-tops off and the windows down. Two fat guys in the car (me and passenger). Let off due to traffic appearing. My Z28 is stock except for the drop-in K&N. A4, 3.23 rear axle

I think to this point I've only topped about 140. I have a bad front wheel bearing, grabs the road ruts horrendously. Once I tighten the car down I'll probably feel a bit more confident.
How does everyone run out of road? I regularly push 100-110 during my 40 mile commute during normal hours... and I have plenty of spots to really pin the beats if I wanted to in the after hours...and this is Massachusetts roads... not the straightest if you know what I mean.
I think my all-time all-car top speed was a 160-speedo pin in my SVX with the limiter uncapped, and that was on MA i-495 at 4am on sunday-- no cars in sight.
To answer those questions..... yes I've been pulled over for 100+, and no, I've never gotten a ticket for it. One time it was a statie in an ondercover late-model taurus and I blew him away into the horizon until I saw the tiny hidden blues, then kindly pulled over and waited for him... I guess morals paid off, because he screwed up his laser somehow and couldn't get a read on me. Just got red in the face for a few minutes, then must have figured since I was a nice guy and all... actually, I have no idea why he just gave me a yelling and left. You just don't ask questions at that point and take the get-out-of-jail-free card. Now I pay attention to the undercovers. No tickets since.

170ish racing a Supra turbo in Houston. Don't remember the exact numbers on the tach (rev limiter raised to 6700 rpm) but I did the math that night based on the rpms indicated. Oh yeah, speed limiter is also removed. That was a one time thing, though. 140-150 a bit more regularly. Now I'm married with kids. I try keeping it below 110 or so. Well... no... now that I think about it... I hit 140 in my G35 a couple weeks ago racing a BMW 335i. I'll never grow up.
Fastest average speed over a long distance... about 10 years ago I cleared 300 miles from Denton, TX to Houston, TX in 3 hours and 10 minutes. That was in my 1993 Nissan NX2000. Between just south of Dallas and just north of Houston (I-45) I was averaging probably about 120.Last edited by Carlitos_SS; 06-27-2007 at 11:00 PM.

Carlitos
I drive fast... not furious.
12.7 sec @ 112 mph, 2.2 sec 60', spun the stock clutch off the line.
Wanna help me install a SPEC?
