bent rearend???
i was washing my car today and got to the rear wheels to wash the wells.
i did one side just fine and then when i went to clean the right side wheel well i couldnt fit my hand behind the wheel like i did the other side
so what i figured is that the passenger rear wheel seems to be pushed back further than the drivers side rear wheel.
what could be the explanation to this?
bent frame?
something in the suspension?
thanks for the help

Welcome to the club of uneven rear ends my friend. This seems to ba a common accurance, some sides sag around 1-2 inches, usually the side with the spare tire is lower.

i dont know if u misunderstood me but i didnt mean that one side was lower than the other.
what exactly do u mean by sag?
the car isnt leaning on either side.
one wheel is basically closer to the rear bumper than the other one is
hope this helps

i have a similar problem where my driver side wheel actually sticks out of the fender and the passenger side in pushed in, i just used a spacer on the passenger side to help even it out. but i have no idea why its like that nothing underneath look bent our outta place, ive looked for hours too.

Ahh the great imperfections of the F-body. My rear end is all out of whack like this too. Car is fast as heck though!

I say it's probably just an imperfection in the plastic rear bumper. If the car drives straight and isn't wearing tires unusually, the everything is ok.

I think adham is referring to the rearend being off center from front to back.
Being off center from side to side is rather common for torque arm rear suspension that uses a panhard bar. As the rearend moves up and down the rearend will shift side to side,,,just the nature of a panhard bar. If for some reason you have lowered or raised the car,,,the rearend will be shifted to one side or the other,,,,which is why the aftermarket makes adjustable panhard bars to re-center the rearend in the car from side to side.
When I have a boat load of groceries in the trunk and family in the back seat it's very noticable on mine, because the rearend has dropped about 2-3 inches..but goes back to normal when weight is removed.
Now what adham is talking about sounds a little unusual to me, being off center from the front to back. Possible the car may have been in a rearend collision at some point? Something got tweaked? Many possibilities.

How far off is it? I still say that structural problems would show up in tire wear or pulling issues. I think it is just cosmetic.

its about half an inch further back than the left rear wheel
no rear end collisions.....

I tend to agree with Jimmy,,,,if the rearend were truely off center from front to back on one side,,,,then it would cause the car to (what we used to call) dogleg,,,,,the car will run sideways down the road. Someone following behind you could quickly point this out. Then again you should feel a strange sensation when driving the car.
If none of this is happening then I agree with Jimmy,,,,probably something cosmetic,,,,possibly the bumper cover not on sqare or something of that nature.

so an adj panhard bar will move the wheel from side to side and up and down?
im getting it lowered soon so maybe that will take care of it?

i had the same problem... a local mechanic with a brain in thier head can correct it for you... and do it ASAP... or you can kill the shit out of your drive line... if you do not have an adjustable panhard rod, aftermarket LCA (don't do adjustable because they are sluts), and a afermarket adjustable TQ arm i'd invest in them because they help a shit load...

my post was off a bit, Imeant that the sag made the wheel well uneven in more places than just the top of the tire to fender. I did have the same problem though and ate through tires like was said before. Adjustable LCA and adj PHB aligned by a pro shop cured the problem (after I lowered the car is when I REALLY noticed how bad it was) Should have been more clear.
