Stone vs. 07 GT-500 ;-)
They have a 07 black GT-500 with silver stripes running around here. He lives next to one of my pool shooting buddies.......well we set the run up but we could only run once because of traffic......from a 60 roll to 125 i had him by a little over half a car.....i jumped on him a car from the start and he crept on me after i hit 4th and was half a car or so back where he stayed until 125......now i know they should pull me just a little from the factory with a good driver......so im sure the driver had alot to do with it.....but he traded his 05 SC Saleen in when his GT-500 came in....so he shoulda been able to drive it well...but i dunno.....the 1st GT-500 i ran beat me by almost 2 cars with a tune(486@the wheels) and drop in filter...i wanna run him from a dig and a 40....im sure we will soon...and ill try to get a vid of it.

GT500 = high-powered, overweight pig.
Would be a great car if it weighed 3320 lbs instead of 3920 lbs.

Nice. I've been wanting to run one of those, but haven't been able to find an owner willing to race his.

Good run, thats a fast SRT-4 you have there even if he is a bad driver its a close race with a good driver it sounds like.

From 60 - 125mph, theres really no way to fuck up the race unless you dont floor it all the way and/or shift early. Ill bet he did neither. Who would? If you just spent a shit load of money and a neon is close to beating you, sorry, but I cant see ANYONE not accepting that loss if they had control.

You would have to make the 2/3 shift (argueably the hardest) and a 3/4 shift. While not as critical as the launch, a slow, lift-throttle shift will lose a lot of momentum compared to a proper powershift.
So there are ways to screw it up (not implying at all that the GT500 did in this case....I've already stated my opinion on that).

Well i talked to him today and he said he was shifting out at 5700......so its kinda early IMO but hes twin-screwed and i doubt looses as much as i would if i were to shift out early......but i can tell you with it being sooooo humid here i doubt im trapping 115.......maybe 110 or so being heat soaked like i was.

Peak power is at 6000 rpm, but fuel shutoff is a bit north of 6200, so Ford pretty much took optimum shift points (likely 6500+) off the table from the git-go. One more reason the cars aren't that impressive (stock) given the HP they make.
Shifting at 5700 wouldn't have done the guy any favors, but as you said, the positive displacement blower helps mid range, so it wouldn't hurt him as much as it would a N/A 4V motor.

I'm not making excuses for anybody. I'm am talking purely from a racing perspective, based on my experiences. Most people do not powershift anyway - either by choice or because they don't know how to do it.

The GT-500s are pretty mean, if you run up on one watch out, I saw one runnin up at the track with just with just exhaust and it was in the low 13s and thats at 5800ft, sea level would be low 12s

I read some where the Mustang with the big 500hp motor only runs 13.10.....that's not very good for that kinda horse power. !!!

Potential to run low-mid 12s stock. Lot of em run high 12s stock. Some run low 13s or worse stock (got driver?).
Still horribly over-weight and under-tired.

I'm not knocking the car, I like them. I just read that a factory preped car ran 13.10. This car should be in the low 12's easy. The 505 vett runs 12.10 I think??

I think BDowning was talking about stock trim not $20,000 later on top of the already ridiculous price tag.
I understand this could be a fast car but with a extra $20,000 in my car I bet I could run 9's also and that’s not even talking about the price tag difference stock for stock.
. It is a nice car, if I was rich I woudn't mind having one but only if I had money to waste I like my SS
.
