Like it was glued to the hiway. Getting to 135 or so was quick. That last 750 rpm to get to 160 took a while (maybe 10-15 seconds). Lot's of resistance with the flat front end on that car. I'd recently redone the suspension. Koni shocks, lowering springs (forget the make but I could barely get my fist between the frame and the ground) with 15 X 7 front (225 wide) and 15 X 8 Vette rally rims with 245-50-15 BF Goodrich Radial T/A's. The engine was an old school 327 that I'd rebuilt that had about 20k on it. 11 to 1 compression, .525 lift cam with 280 @ .050 and 462 heads with 2.02/1.60 valves. Heads also had roller rockers and screw in studs. I used to shift at 6500 (TH350 tranny) when I drag raced it but didn't feel it could handle that all day. The only part I hadn't rebuilt at that point was the rearend. It (8.125 10-bolt) later got 4.11's. That's how I know it had 2.73's.

I still have the Cali "Pink Slip" for this car, although it long ago gave up parts for 3 other 67's I've had. The front wrap soldiers on on my RS/SS car.

Been over 140 in my 99Z. Was tryin to keep up with my neighbor's 04 Cobra. (He's got an aftermarket Procharger system and a all bolt-ons) I remember shifting to 6th, glanced at the speedo shortly after I shifted, it read 140, and we stayed on it for a few more seconds before slowing down.

Fastest I've gone in a race was in my Porsche against an LT1 Camaro. I was basically stock w/ a boost controller, chips and exhaust. We went from a dig, he took me off the line, I reeled him in, got a nose on him and held it that way through the 1/4. We stayed on it and I slowly pulled him as I went through 4th gear. I was about a car up on him when I went into 5th at 140...then I just walked him hard, I think I cut out at like 155 or so. Other than racing, my speedo gets up to 170, I've buried it a few times back when I was pushing around 300 to the wheels. With my new setup I'll blow by 170, but until I deal with some aero technicalities I'll probably play it safe.

I've had mine for 3.5 years. That stock trap speed seems a little low, but mine wasn't stock when I got it so it's hard for me to say. And keep in mind, that top speed is drag limited...big time. The Turbos are geared for 200mph+ with enough power (the magic number is about 350rwhp). The 944's max out around 160 if I remeber correctly. I know in mine, I hit 160 more than 1k rpms below redline. Anyways, I do have these pics, unfortunately none of them were taken after my total rebuild. I was deployed to japan before I could get it running and tuned. I get back in july so I'm hoping to have it wrapped up by august.

When I had my 98 SS Camaro, there was one lonely interstate on a saturday morning that I was going to work.. when a WS6 pulled beside me. Just us, we nailed it, and by the time I let off the speedo had been pegged for at least 10 seconds(which I think it only went to 165?) so I estimate around 168 or so... btw, I was ahead by only 1/2 car. Pretty awesome... when I got out of the car I had a slight shake going on in the knees... quite possibly one of the most exciting days of my life.....

I once made it to about 150mph...on a nice stretch of highway... (I looked down after I took the foot off and it was at roughly 145mph and slowing)... sh*t my pants when I hit a little dip on the highway... if not...I might have reached top speed... (it's Auto)
