1:85 Rockers on 99 LS1
I just purchased a set of SLP 1.85 Rockers for my 99 LS1. I was wondering if I need to get different pushrods or if the stock springs will hold up to increased lift? Should I test where they contact the valve with an adjustable pushrod?
Before you say there are better things I could spend my money on to build power, well, I purchased these for a great price. So, no thats cleared up, any suggestions are welcome!
Also, I would ask SLP, but they would lie to me to get me to spend even more money!Last edited by 9t8z28; 05-20-2007 at 05:17 AM.

They will work ! You should at least upgrade the valve springs.. They are the weak link on floating out the valves... I ran a Z06 cam with the 1.85's and made awesome power !!! Good Luck !!!

O.K., but what valve springs do you recommend? I am on a budget!

Comp Cams beehive springs... They are good to a .600 lift ! With the 1.85's, you will increase your lift !

You can put them in, but stay clear of the rev limits. I bent four intake valves from floating them out... With the new springs, I run 7000rpm at the track with no problems !!! You will feel the difference !

I wouldn't over rev until you did the spring upgrade. As far as what else to upgrade, you could go with the titanium spring retainers & keepers... They are lighter, which means less weight bouncing up & down ! The springs can be installed with out removing the heads if you know what you're doing !

Are the pushrods going to need to be upgraded? What kind are the factory pushrods?

Franklin is on the MD line on I-81... There's a doylestown near by, thought I'd give you a hand... Com has a valve train upgrade kit that has everything too. I bent pushrods too, but because the valves hit the pistons... ( weak springs )
